Just a question for those whoa re parents to disabled children. Would you drop your child off at a mcdonalds alone for him to stay with (presumably at least 1 full night) someone who is being mentioned as only an acquaintance?

I think it is would depend on the functionality of the person. We do not know his degree of impairment.

"The department issued a statement on Twitter calling the video “disturbing” on Wednesday:
While on patrol Officers observed a disoriented male walking 3400 W. Lexington on January 3, 2017 who was then transported to an area hospital for treatment. At 5:26 p.m. officers then responded to a battery at a residence on the 3300 block of W. Lexington where they discovered signs of a struggle and damage to the property and (were) able to link this evidence to the disoriented male. Officers later became aware of a social media video depicting a batter of an adult male which is believed to be the same individual. At this point CPD believes the video is credible and detectives are questioning persons of interest in the case. The victim, whom CPD believes is from a neighboring suburb, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing."

Pretty much the same as LEO Donnelly said at presser today, except sequence of events.
^ suggests LEO found victim w Jordan first, then LE responded to call from neighbor.
IDK if 'it matters' but IIUC Donnelly said LE answered neighbor first, then LE saw/found victim outside.

We all know that what people get caught and charged for is only the tip of the iceberg for most.

This is really bad stuff - there is usually a progression in terms of criminality. I would feel safe in concluding that these folks have engaged and not gotten caught in a variety of things - from candy striper to kidnap, torture stabbing drowning after smashing into a neighbor's home is quite a stretch IMO -

I think all of them dropped out of the boy and girl scouts quite a while ago!!

  • #205
So with you, if he drowned would they then charge them with murder- I think that is what the word attempted in front of the word murder means!

Like exactly what behavior is needed for it to become attempted murder? Would he need to have been hurt more , then it is AM? Cutting beating and drowning are not providing activities - what is the distinction they are making.

I think we all can conclude that the internet brings copycats. If for no other reason - It just seems as a society the message that should be sent out is we will charge you with attempted murder for anyone who decides to do a sequel.

Sadly there are others that are gonna find this appealing scary as heck but just the truth.

I hate to see what I would be feeling if I watched longer than like 90 seconds. And I am not going to . There is such cruelty to it .

attempted murder usually requires taking some action that is likely to cause death and is intended to cause death.

thats why people that get in fistfights where someone dies are usually (USUALLY) not charged with murder, or attempted murder if the person lives.

Yes. Thank heavens they did so everyone can see their true colors and perhaps put a pin in the "white can't experience racism" hat that I see stated so many times. Hatred is not something exclusive to any group. It's really out there and comes from many places.

And the internet has turned it into a raging wildfire that is out of control. moo

Injustice Collectors
http://www.psybersquare.com/family/family_injustice.html

Characteristics of Injustice Collectors:
1.) Injustice Collectors are convinced that they are never wrong. How is it possible that they are never wrong? It is simple: They are always right.

2.) Injustice Collectors never apologize. Ever. For anything.

3.) Injustice Collectors truly believe that they are morally and ethically superior to others and that others chronically do not hold themselves to the same high standards as the injustice collector does.

4.) Injustice Collectors make the rules, break the rules and enforce the rules of the family. They are a combined legislator, police, and judge and jury of

5.) Injustice Collectors never worry about what is wrong with themselves as their "bad list" grows. Their focus is always on the failings of others.

6.) Injustice Collectors are never upset by the disparity of their rules for others with their own expectations of themselves.

7.) Injustice Collectors rationalize their own behavior with great ease and comfort.

Too early to tell, but I can see all characteristics in those torturers, especially mastermind. The strongest would be 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7.

Here are more with 20 characteristics
http://www.lisaescott.com/forum/2009/11/25/are-they-injustice-collector

Characteristics of Injustice Collectors

1. Injustice collectors are never wrong. How is it possible that they are never wrong? It's simple: They are always right.

2. Injustice collectors never apologize. Ever. For anything.

3. Injustice collectors truly believe they are morally and ethically superior to others and that others seem incapable of holding themselves to the same high standards as the injustice collector does.

4. Injustice collectors make the rules, break the rules and enforce the rules of the family. They are a combination of legislator, police, judge and jury to those they consider their subjects. They forever banish from their kingdom any subject they deem disloyal, and only grant clemency if there is sufficient (in their eyes) contrition.

5. Injustice collectors never worry about what is wrong with them as their "bad" list grows. Their focus is always on the failings of others.

6. Injustice collectors are never troubled by the disparity between their rules for others and their own expectations of themselves. Injustice collectors rationalize their own behavior with great ease and comfort.

7. Injustice collectors have an external orientation; the problem always exists in the world, outside of themselves, and in their view, the world would be an acceptable place if their rules and standards were followed at all times.

8. Injustice collectors do not have a capacity for remorse, empathy or guilt.

9. Injustice collectors scoff at the idea of therapy, therapists, self-help books, and other tools used by people who struggle to live with them.

10. The phrase "walking on eggshells" describes life with an injustice collector.

11. The IC (injustice Collector) will prey upon your weaknesses to frame all issues in their terms.

12. IC's will always cry foul when you are 'mean' to them and accuse you of being nasty when you are confronting them with their negative behavior.

13. They are titanically insecure and cannot trust anyone. All relationships they have, even with their own parents and children and trustless and must be reinforced by subordination over and over.

14. They can only strengthen relationships through imprisoning their mates and banning behaviors and other relationships. Friends and family are a huge threat to the IC.

15. They must repetitively revisit situations where you service them, give in to them and agree with them. They will over time shrink your world to a small plot of empty activities that only they like. They are terrified of travel, meeting new people, understanding new concepts and paroling you from any punishment they have previously 'convicted' you of.

16. They do not care about you at all, they care about aggrandizing themselves with you as an assistant producer.

17. They will occasionally do something for you, but if you are not completely brainwashed, it will be a negative experience for you in the end. Example is throwing you a birthday party. I guarantee you will not have fun at your own party.

18. They will force you to choose between them and other things you like or love. The more you choose them, the more they will make you choose them over and over. They do not understand the concept of loyalty at all.

19. Hypocrisy is their modus operandi for debating and arguing with you. Everything they say about you is true about them. (aka Projection) It makes it so you try to 'win' fights by getting them to agree with you, which they never can because their whole position is false.

20. Your life will disappear into their lives. Your hopes and dreams will fade, even in your own mind. You will eat what they want, you will watch what they want on TV, you will vacation where they want, or not at all.

If we use this list, the torturers would show most of them. They would show 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 19.

Some show all characteristics whether it is the one with 7 or 20 characteristics like Elliot Rodger, Adam Lanza, Seung-Hui Cho, Eric Harris, Jodi Arias, Lori Drew, Omar Mateen, and Osama bin Laden.

I'm still shaking. My insides are shaking. I've seen lots of terrible cases on here, read about many tortures and kids that grew up in abusive environments. One book coming to mind is "A boy called IT", one of the worse cases of continous abuse I think I've read about.

And yet, when I think I can handle anything written....those videos....OMG! I just can't imagine! To see it, knowing he is OK now, as in not there to be tortured anymore, it didn't help me cope. I truly don't know why I wasn't mentally more prepared or if the brutality of this, in real action, is just more than my mind can handle. This has literally shaken my core. The evil among us is strong! Who in the heck thought it was a normal thing to torture him? Who thought it was normal to video it? To laugh about someone being tortured? Heck I've put my life in danger to protect an animal many times. There is no way I could or would have stood back and did NOTHING to help!

It would have only took ONE witness to step behind a door and call 911 and yet, nope...they all participated! I can't wrap my mind around that. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CALL FOR HELP?? Why didn't anyone speak up and say "Come on gang! I think enough is enough. Leave him alone!" But no... COWARDS! UGH!

Great post - it is so hard to grasp what was in their heads while it was going on - and for hours- and from what I have read they were laughing and stuff. Hearing about the toilet later..............

and the next question is no fear of getting caught-- that is just coo coo

I'm just saying, young people in an area that's filled with violence and little to no supervision doesn't make for a good outcome most of the time. Sure, there are criminals all over, but I just don't see a very bright future for these young adults who are directly raised in a bad area with little guidance(and I'm only assuming little guidance bc my lord, the girl was putting it all out there on her fb the type of life she was living). I'm sure the youngest learned a lot of what she was doing from her big sister as well.

Edit: I'm not saying that should be mitigating in any sense to this heinous crime. They should face the harshest penalties there are. What they did was cruel and sick and the victim has all my sympathy.

I agree - environment is huge. Does that change the horror of this no - does it explain nope not IMO, does it have much to do with the obvious rage and hate and violence they have absorbed has to moo

I am assuming their histories will emerge moo

I must state it this way!

Legally I just learned you all are correct. Legally only tho! smile

[FONT=&quot]Merely causing serious bodily harm or disfigurement to someone is not sufficient to prove attempted murder unless there is evidence of the actual intent to kill the person. For example, stabbing a person in the arm, by itself, does not show an intent to kill, but stabbing or shooting that person in the chest is more likely to satisfy the requisite intent.

the only thing missing from the press conference was the police chief explaining his initial comments minimizing the incident, but after hearing everything i can somewhat understand it - but he went way overboard and should have reserved comment until more facts were known.

I felt the same way last night doc. And that stuff about stupidity was shocking to me

I did not realize all three of them went downstairs?? Is that wrong?

Police says the young man made so much noise as he was being tortured that the downstairs neighbors eventually called police to report the noise.
The group became angered with the downstairs neighbors, and three of them went downstairs to kick the neighbor's door in. It was at this moment that the victim was able to make a break for it.

this will get plea bargained down considerably, if they (the defendants and their lawyers) are smart. hopefully it still results in jail time for all, at least several years seems right.

no reports of any
calls to police from anyone that was watching the video live. sad.

WOW that never occurred to me - that is truly pathetic isn't it ?

What I found most frightening about this is how devoid of empathy they are. No shame. No remorse. Not a single one of them saying "this is going too far" or even "Um, maybe we shouldn't do this because we're gonna get in big trouble". The broadcasting it on Facebook just blows my mind. These are kids who grew up with Facebook. They should know how it works.

I can't decide where it would have ended if he hadn't gotten away. On one hand, their total lack of feeling anything empathetic makes me think they would have never let him go. But then, I ask are they really THAT stupid to record evidence if they were planning to kill him? Either way, I'm grateful they didn't have enough common sense to hide what they were doing. It makes it a lot easier for the justice system when criminals hand them all the evidence on a silver platter.

My heart literally hurts when I think about how the victim must have felt once he realized his fun outing with a friend was actually betrayal. It's just so much crueler to me than when the perps are strangers. How can he ever trust anyone after this?

It's headlining all over - red banner on CNN even, and they've been charged with a hate crime.

I cannot watch any news coverage, first event in my life - I just clicked on a CNN link and the video came on, can not do it , and this is the first time (it had audio of him taking two gasps) - I lasted 4 seconds--

I am going to have to stick to print on this story.

What a potent opening

Far from home in the freezing cold, the bloodied and beaten suburban man wearing nothing but an inside-out tank top, sandals and jean shorts hobbled down a dark West Side street alone.

lost link sorry

in a convoluted way the neighbor might have saved the poor kids life............................

Streamwood is a village of Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 39,858 at the 2010 census.[SUP][1][/SUP] It is a northwest suburb of Chicago, and is a part of the Chicago metropolitan area.
Streamwood is one of the three communities that make up the so-called "Tri Village" area, along with Bartlett and Hanover Park. Streamwood was first incorporated as a village on February 9, 1957.

When they combine all these charges anyone have anyway of coming up with a guess what the minimum they will serve??

.......... they may have ,IMO, some jailhouse stuff - in essence, its torturing and beating a child.

.
What do you need to know about Streamwood, I live about 25 minutes from there. I'm not sure what the connection is to Streamwood, I know its been mentioned in the news articles. I think part of Crystal Lake is part of the Streamwood School District and that is the connection there. The boy is from Crystal Lake.

I sure know what you mean~~I cannot stomach to watch it either...glad I had the volume turned off~~I would have been crying by then.

OH good! in this video a expert says they might be talking decades in the pen. As a lawyer, of course, he used the word if convicted but I think its reasonable to remove the word if yeh!

It has been very uncomfortable the last 24 hours just the way stuff has come out and thinking they may only get 6 years time - very rarely do I come to the conclusion that it is "comforting" to know a long sentence is coming - in this case, it was "comforting"................ and the lawyer was old and looked wise and all that stuff!!
