U of C student, security guard among at least 3 killed in shooting rampage between Chicago, Evanston: CPD

Seven people have been shot and at least three of the victims killed after a shooting rampage that stretched from Chicago to Evanston Saturday, according to Chicago police.

Chicago police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jason Nightengale. Nightengale was killed by Evanston Police, marking the end to an hours long shooting spree.

Cook County Court records obtained by the I-Team early Sunday reveal a lengthy series of arrests and prosecutions beginning in 2005 for gun and drug violations, criminal trespass, theft, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless conduct and domestic violence.
.......
Leading up to the hours-long, cross-metro crime spree on Saturday, Nightengale posted slurred and rambling social media videos, according to law enforcement sources.

Victims Of Shooting Rampage That Stretched Across City Identified As Anthony Faulkner Jr., Doorwoman Aisha Johnson, University Of Chicago Ph.D. Student Yiran Fan
.......
Fan was shot and killed in the parking garage at the Regents Park building, at 5035 S. East End Ave. in a section of the East Hyde Park-Kenwood neighborhood known as Indian Village, around 1:50 p.m. Saturday.

After shooting and killing Fan, Brown said, Nightengale went to another building on the next block north – The Barclay condominium complex at 4940 S. East End Ave. Nightengale entered the vestibule of the building, took out a gun, and began firing shots – striking two women.

One of those women was doorwoman Aisha Johnson, 46, who lost her life.
.......
Nightengale also shot a 77-year-old woman who was retrieving her mail at The Barclay, Brown said Saturday night. She was shot in the head and was left in critical condition, Brown said.

After stealing a man’s car keys at gunpoint on the 19th floor of an Indian Village building, police said Nightengale took off to a convenience store on Halsted Street near 93rd Street in the Brainerd neighborhood.

The family of 20-year-old Anthony “A.J.” Faulkner Jr. added he was murdered by Nightengale in that convenience store.
.......
An 81-year-old woman was also critically wounded in the convenience store shooting.
.......
Nightengale was ultimately shot and killed by Evanston police – after he also shot and wounded a 15-year-old girl in the 10300 block of South Halsted Street, fired a shot in a CVS store at Howard Street and Asbury Avenue in Evanston, and then took a woman hostage at an IHOP across the street.

Gun used in Chicago-to-Evanston murder spree tied to past shootings in Chicago

Gun used in Chicago-to-Evanston murder spree tied to past shootings in Chicago

The gun that Jason Nightengale used in a rampage Jan. 9 that left 4 dead had been stolen from a legitimate owner, a source said, and probably on the street for a “long, long time.”

The Evanston Police Department says Jason Nightengale used this gun during a deadly shootout with Evanston cops on Jan. 9.

Ballistics tests show the .45-caliber handgun used in a Jan. 9 terror spree that started on the South Side and ended in Evanston — leaving four people dead and three wounded — had been used in previous “shooting incidents” in Chicago, police said.

Tom Ahern, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department, said he didn’t know whether anyone was killed or wounded in the earlier shootings or when and where they took place.

like some one goes to the area that borders rogers park and Evanston and shoots random people...his foot turns outward and its very noticeable , he also matches height and weight. also that is a very specific area where you can walk just a few blocks and be in rogers park and cross over Howard Ave and theres the pancake house,
in that part of the city it's not that far to walk down towards the lake into residential rogers park. its a very specific area for several reasons..also there is train for a quick
in and out of the neighborhood..essentially the end of the line.

for me he ticks every box. check the footage..very noticeable. mOO
