Turns out that this was very difficult police work, they knew his ID in 2017 (various Honduran social media posted it and ask for witnesses) but did not release much until the suspect was found. Suspect fled to Mexico after the murder which made everything more complicated.
And the victim was indeed Black, but Afro-Latino. They got that on point, too.
This is an example of excellent behind the scenes investigation work. Sometimes not much is released to the public and we are upset because we think nothing is happening. But sometimes there is a lot going on. I guess they did not want to stir up a lot of media not to hinder investigations and focused more on Mexican and Honduran outlets.
