Have a look on the right side of the above linked flyer from Illinois / Kankakee Police, there it is highlighted, that it seems there may have been a sighting later. How confirmed this one is is not clear. There is just no sufficient information to do anything. Maybe the PD could provide more?

NamUs says 9/11/2001 too. I wonder if it's possible she called during 9/11, I heard of another runaway case where the kid called back home during 9/11 just to let them now they didn't die in the disaster so that was their DLC.

Details of Disappearance​

Amber was last seen at her home in Kankakee, Illinois on September 11, 2001. She has never been heard from again. At the time of her disappaerance, she was attending Kankakee High School's SALT (Students All Learning Together) program, an alternative education program for students who are in danger of explusion from school. Few details are available in her case.
