@osu If true, she’s violent & aggressive.

Not making excuses for Sr but did he come home from work only to see AJ hurt yet again, to be told AJ fell, AJ grabbed a pot of boiling water & AJ afraid to speak for himself? Did Sr witness JC beating AJ?
Did he bury AJ because in his mind he can’t imagine life w/o JC? Did JC promise Sr she would quit beating AJ?
There’s so much going on, we will never really know, I’m afraid.
I also wonder if JC had a ‘friend’ that visited, bringing drugs, when Sr was at the office. (Just speculation)
JC is really out of touch with reality, the fact she petitioned to get P back, before AJ was found. WTH? She knew AJ was gone, did it not register with her?

In some of the earlier photos both boys were actually well dressed - thinking of the snow picture in particular. Wondering who dressed them then and who bought their clothes.

Ditto.
I do think JC functioned best after/when using. IMO the aggression & rage presented after she depleted her supply.

I don’t want DCFS protecting P. Sorry. I don’t trust them anymore. The picture of him with his older brother is so adorable. I want these two together. I know it can be too much for the grandma but he deserves to be around loved ones. Who knows where DCFS will place him considering JC was at one time, a foster parent. No thank you. I wonder what JC’s mom must feel. The pain must be unbearable.

As much as I’m not excusing JC at all, I have to say the dad gives me the worse vibes. JC has never seemed “with it” to me. She seems completely out of it and in Zombie land. Not that this is an excuse! However, the father has appeared pretty sober and with it to me in a lot of occasions - 911 call, interview, vigil - and now asking for a REAL attorney? Who the eff does he thinks he is? Better than the other criminals? This guy seems like a psychopath/sociopath to me and not just a drug addict. He seems cunning and manipulative. Was JC an easy prey for him? JC seems... so deep in her addiction but Andrew SR seems like he knows and knew better. The guy gives me serious psychopath vibes. JC gives me a lowlife, zombie, heroin addict vibe - a lowlife who let drugs rule her life and not give a single EFF about her children. Still think AJ Senior is the more “cold blooded” of the two.

I agree!
Personally I get the vibe that he thinks VERY highly of himself and above the law.
This was the perfect storm, the two of them together. JMO.

I think DCFS is a formality & P will be formally adopted once parental rights are legally terminated. Right now, P is a ward of the state as JC & Sr are both incarcerated.
I was pleasantly surprised neither party opposed permanent termination of parental rights.

I pray she’s not deemed incapable of standing trial.....

Did anyone else notice that JC and AF both wearing Hollister and Abercrombie (logo tees) at the vigil and at the presser with her attorney? I wonder if they both thought they would appear younger and hip if they wore those brands of clothing?

Maybe it’s just me, but it just seemed weird for 60+ man and a 30+ woman to be wearing Hollister/A&F.

I did notice, @osu

Also, did Sr supply JC with ample drugs to retain control over her, to keep her from leaving? Since he temporarily lost his bar license over her, I think he was instantly smitten with her, more than her ability to get pills for him. Drugs are accessible, to any person wanting them, moo.

Again, so much going on, we will never truly know, imo.

I agree, on AB family friend's FB there was a video they put together of AJ and he appeared very well kept. I wonder if those were times they were visiting grandma?

I’d love to hear from family friends of AJsr. What was his childhood like? Jmo

I only noticed AF Sr. wearing an Abercrombie shirt. *insert eye roll*. Both of them are so out of touch with reality.

I don’t get the same vibe about him. I do believe he is “book smart”.
Do we have any info about his life pre-JC?

I feel like I have read that he was a good student and popular in high school. That said, there are many people who were brilliant, sociable, and highly thought of until they focused their lives on drugs/alcohol. Whoever he was is just not there anymore.

Another thing I wonder about is how/when Joann started heavy drug use since she hooked up with AF Sr. When she was around 29. I know she had her first son at 17, (the father of the child is deceased). Then married husband #1. She was a hairdresser. Was there drug use back then or just after she hooked up with AF Sr? Was she a big drinker/pot for awhile and it escalated? I guess I’m more familiar with teenagers getting into drugs (heroin, etc.) and it escalates.

If the 18 y.o. Brother visited, JC must have been totally out of it, she would know he would report his findings to her mom. Seems like she would not want him visiting. Smh

They should plead but we know how these things usually play out with some ridiculous defense. I think there are a couple of possibilities:
  • Either party claims the other was abusive and AJ got in the middle of a violent fight and was accidentally killed
  • Either party claims they and AJ were victims of continual DV
  • Either party claims the other outright murdered AJ
They will claim they were too scared to call LE. They may try to claim they put AJ into a cold shower to revive him.

Remember Joel Steinberg & Hedda Nussbaum? Back in the 80s in NYC their adopted daughter Lisa was murdered. Both Lisa and Nussbaum showed signs of being abused by Steinberg, a NYC attorney.Drugs were involved and the apartment was a sty. She got immunity for testifying against him. He was convicted. There was a lot of debate about her being given immunity.

This case reminds me of them an awful lot. I hope Cunningham is not given immunity or any reduction in charges for testimony against Freund. And vice versa.

And we’ve read she has mental issues. Before or post addiction?
IMO, many brain images await her, if she opts for trial.

@nyvictoria this does reminds me of Steinberg case.

I hear ya but I’m thinking of his neuropsychological exam.
After reading the components of the test, is he capable of clear thinking? Not making excuses for him by any means.
And we do not know his test results.

Neuropsychological tests evaluate functioning in a number of areas including: intelligence, executive functions (such as planning, abstraction, conceptualization)

*any sentence he gets is pretty much a life sentence, imo. I doubt he’s overly healthy, so his age, health, background & stress factors will work against him, imo.
JMO but as long as he can distinguish right from wrong and is not psychotic and delusional he’s out of luck. Although we all know how defense attorneys will grasp at any straw.

I've asked this before, but noone seems to know - was he ever married before and does he have other children as well. He would have been 55 when he had AJ, if this was his first child. That's late for a first time father so just wonder...

I’ve read some comments from a former friend/roommate of theirs that JC is very manipulative and controlling of AF. According to the friend, JC hit him in the face during one of their brawls with a table lamp and he was bleeding requiring stitches. The friend bandaged him up and told him that he needed to go to the ER to get stitches and then he should report JC for her abusive behavior. He replied that he wouldn’t do that because “JC has already been through so much”.

She also described AF as having “sadist” tendencies and said the place, and being around the two of them was like “living in a horrific nightmare”.

BBM. This makes me so angry “JC had already been through so much”. What??? Her choices!!! Her child was taken from her custody by her mother because she was neglecting and abusing him”. She made the choice to abuse drugs! Her mother (thank heavens) stepped in and probably saved that boys life!

....looking, lol.

I hope he was not playing some sort of perverse mind game with JC. Withholding then supplying drugs, in order to
Keep her around. WD is ugly, each time she started WDing the propensity for her to be violent was huge, imo.
Again, I think we will never know the truth. Even if they talk, how much will be accurate?
She’s so out of touch with reality.
