IL - Attorneys Thomas Johnson & wife Leslie Jones, found stabbed to death, Chicago, 15 Apr 2020

This is the most recent news item I could find from a local outlet in 2022: Police Investigate Double Murder + Earth Month Fundraiser

Exerpt:

Police are continuing a “very active investigation” two years after Thomas E. Johnson and Leslie Ann Jones were found killed in their Oak Park home on April 13, 2020. “This is a delicate investigation, and because of that, we need to keep information out of the public eye,” Police Commander Paul Kane told Pioneer Press. (Paid source: Oak Leaves)”

My concern is that there’s nothing keeping this in the news and public eye. The couple’s adult children clearly don’t want to comment publicly and with the very real possibility that the perpetrator was a police officer themselves I think there’s a need for public scrutiny. IMO

It's over three years since these murders happened. So strange that there are no public updates.

A local Oak Park newspaper reported on a gathering that occurred outside the victims' home on the third anniversary of the murders last April: Friends to gather on anniversary of Fair Oaks double murder - Oak Park

It contains this information:
Johnson and Jones are survived in life by their four adult sons, as well as numerous foster children. Gallo [the couple's friend and neighbor, the article explained previously], per their request, has been acting as the family’s point person for police for close to two years now.

“I have confidence in the way the Oak Park Police Department and other investigative agencies are handling this,” he said.
The investigation into the double homicide remains open, but information to the public has been extremely limited. Two years have passed since the Oak Park Police Department issued a statement regarding the status of the investigation. Oak Park Village Manager Kevin Jackson and Police Chief Shatonya Johnson did not respond to requests for comment.

Interesting that the family's point person for police is confident in how the investigation is progressing and it sounds like other agencies have been brought in to assist.

I was just thinking about this case this week. Thanks for the update. I still think the lack of any publicity/info from LE on this is so strange.

"CHICAGO (WLS) -- It has been a year of torment for the loved ones of Tom Johnson and Leslie Jones; a year of frustration for friends and legal colleagues who can't understand why the case of the couple killed in cold blood hasn't been solved; and a year of unanswered questions for Oak Park police.

One year ago Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m., a grisly discovery was made in a 113-year-old Oak Park home. Leslie Ann Jones, 67, and her 69-year old husband Thomas Johnson had been stabbed numerous times.

The couple both had Harvard law degrees. Jones was found on a second floor staircase landing; Johnson was in a bedroom.

Whoever killed them spent considerable time in the house."

There is a thread for this case here: IL - Attorneys Thomas Johnson & wife Leslie Jones, found stabbed to death, Chicago, 15 Apr 2020

It is absolutely galling to think that there's been no progress made since it happened in 2020. Reading the article from 2023, I found it interesting that the couple had four adult sons but the "point person" for the family, in terms of dealing with media and law enforcement, is a neighbor and not one of their children.
Ahh thank you. I tried searching their names but it didn't show up.
