This is exactly what happened to Justin Gaines who vanished in November 2007 in Duluth, Georgia.

Sadly, his case is not solved either.

Interesting...I am going to read about Justin's case now.

Unfortunately, if you're a "bad guy," a bar parking lot late at night is probably one of the best places to find a vulnerable victim without getting caught. You have drunk people all around, people by themselves who need rides home, etc. In the winter, you have the added element of people who are freezing cold and desperate to get into anyone's warmed-up car for a quick lift. Not to mention it's dark out so no one sees anything, and it's loud and raucous so no one hears anything.

That being said, I don't think these cases are un-solve-able at all! Something happened to Bradley and here's to hoping we find out what.

Another strange case that boggles my mind. How can people just seemingly vanish into thin air??

Hoping to help identify the unknown remains of people who have gone missing, people who have lost loved ones themselves are “adopting” John and Jane Does to raise awareness.

Sue Olsen of Maple Park lost her son Bradley P. Olsen in 2007. While she continues searching for him, she has “adopted” an unidentified person found in 1998 behind a Bolingbrook truck stop...

“The hope is if their missing loved one is in a morgue somewhere, then someone will step up and get them identified,” she said.

1998 Bolingbrook John Doe that Brad's mother has "adopted" has a thread in the Unidentified Forum.

Bradley Olsen's mother still searching

http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2016/01/21/eric-olson-bradley-olsens-mother-still-searching/al9q1wl/

The human conscience is a powerful thing. People might be able to slough off knowing about a murder for years, but most can’t do it forever. Especially not when they – who might now be parents themselves – hear about a mother still searching for her lost son, a daughter who never had a chance to say a proper goodbye to her father.

“It’s a constant struggle, and my parents have a real hard time with it,” Olsen, 62, said. “It was nine years this week. Brad’s daughter is very much affected by this because she’s older now and understands things that go on in the world.”

Olsen has not given up. She said she knows who killed her son, and she knows they’re still alive, keeping their secret.

“It’s not just one somebody, there’s a couple people involved and there’s a group of people that know what happened,” she said. “I am totally convinced of that, 110 percent.

Someone should come forward. 50 grand is a nice size reward...... I'm surprised that hasn't motivated someone to come forward yet.

One thing I noticed, after rereading this thread, it was never stated whether or not Brad made contact with any of the people he was trying to reach for a ride. So it's an 'unknown' if he reached anyone or ??? I had always assumed he might have started walking but if he succumbed to the cold he would have been found by now.

Praying the person(s) with the answers do the right thing and make that call to the authorities, even if they do so anonymously. Brads family deserve answers. His daughter deserves answers.

Excellent story. I sure hope Bradley's mom gets some answers someday.

Wow...no parent should have to endure that. I'm not surprised so many parents of missing persons die at a young age. Broken hearts.

I had not heard of this case until now but it caught my eye because my husband attended NIU in DeKalb. We were dating at the time and I visited him there often. In January 2007, he was a student there. We did not go to this particular bar, but I am pretty familiar with DeKalb because of my many visits there.

It is your typical college town. The population swells when college is in session. On January 20, I would think classes for spring semester would have started or been preparing to start, so if school was in session, there probably might have been college students out walking around. Even in the dead of winter, if school was in session, there were always college students walking to/from bars late at night or out to get food, etc.

My only thought is he got in the car with the wrong person. 2007 would have been before Uber/Lyft; there were cab companies in DeKalb, I think, but they weren't usually just cruising around--you'd have to call one up. Did a random sicko happen to be driving by when he was trying to get in touch with a ride and he hopped in, figuring it was a short drive and would be safe?
