Found Deceased IL - Bryeon Hunter, 1, Maywood, 16 April 2013 *Arrests*

I've seen nothing about any arrests or confessions. Last I read mom and the boyfriend were blaming each other. IDK if mom and boyfriend are still with police being questioned.

This case made me think of Dontrell Melvin's parents blaming each other for his death, and for little Bianca Jones who was murdered by her father for soiling herself while staying with him for the first time immediately following her 2nd birthday.

I'll never understand the rage it must take to beat a child to death over the inability to toilet train earlier than an appropriate age.

Mother, boyfriend charged in connection with 1-year-old's disappearance

The mother of missing 1-year-old Bryeon Hunter has been charged with murder in connection with his disappearance. The mother's boyfriend was charged as well on Friday night.

Lakeshia Baker and Michael Scott were both charged with first-degree murder on Friday. They will both be in bond court Saturday morning.

I just noticed this on my FB feed. I moved to go to school in a neighboring state but own property in Wicker Park. I lived for 8 years in Humboldt Park (and it was deadly). This child is missing from a BAD area, and I normally refrain from calling an area that way. The cartels in Chicago are pretty intense right now and there is rumor the lead guy (Mexican cartel) was murdered in Chicago. I don't know if that's factual or not but it's what I had heard. Mexican gangs are of their own. Latin Kings, 4 corner hustlers are just 2 that dominate the city. My old neighborhood had a death PER NIGHT and I witnessed 3 homicides. The police did nothing. NOTHING. IF I read this right, people in the area told his mom to leave. I'm not 100% sure but this is a notorious hispanic area and if that's the case that warning would have been given. I know it was in my area. I can sadly see this happening. But I'm sure she knows them, because they knew to follow her and when to strike. I'm wondering if the father is in a rival gang and that's the center of this storm? Vice Lords are near that area and are who tends to go to war with the kings. I'm just tossing around ideas that aren't pretty but realistic. Chicago suffered one of it's most bloody years and we've heard every year "deadliest year yet!". I imagine this summer to be intense and with the highest murder rate.

If this is a gang issue it's not initiation or to sell the kid. It would be to get back at the parents. Chicago is very segregated when it comes to areas with drug lords and gang activities. Ukrainians don't mix with the Russians and Mexican's don't mix with the Puerto Ricans. African American gang members are the same way. This is horrible and ruthless. I don't see this ending well because if it's gang related (and it sounds that way) - they leave no witnesses. my heart breaks for this child.

Definitely more close to the source than I could ever be... Most of my experience is from 20 some years back living in the area, but in the 'burbs - not downtown at all. In the suburbs there was more of a chance of a mixed race sub-set - but only among the hispanics & whites in my area. Most white kids weren't brought into that back then though... Unless you grew up in specific places (several apartment complexes were well known back then - by everyone...). It was like a parallel world in some ways. It's much more open now...

Anyway, I'm feeling this the same as you in regard to what happened. Definitely retaliation against the parents vs. initiation, etc...
Thanks for the more up-to-date input though. I wasn't sure who all was around there. Back in my day Maywood Park was more black vs. hispanic, but a lot of things have changed I suppose.

I worked in this area for 40 years and it is predominately a "black" area. If there is any prejudice it would be black prominent not latino. Blacks ran out as many whites as possible in the last 30 years.

That was always my impression of Maywood Park. Is this at the very edge of town though? Like disputed territory? Could be this was a "hit", and perhaps these guys aren't "locals" in the neighborhood, so to speak?

Ugh.... This is looking more and more like an Aveion Lewis type tragedy. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if mom inflicted these injuries on herself and then dumped her child in the woods, or the Des Plaines river. Similiarly to how Brandon Lockett made up the story about Aveion being abducted in a home invasion.

I saw my dad at church this morning and he said it was reported on last evenings local news mom was giving conflicting stories. Not sure which station reported it, I didn't ask. I don't have TV here so am unable to watch local news.

Additionally, as was stated upthread, this is NOT an area in which there would be racial tension against "blacks". Maywood's population, according to a quick google search, is 74% black. Certainly not an area anyone is going to be chasing out "blacks".

Damn... This sucks. I hate to say it, but I had a couple questions since she named these guys so quickly, and the fact she was out of the hospital so soon. One would think a Mom would fight to her last breath, and not be able to be out of the hospital within a day or so.

Now the river and everything is flooded, too. That's not going to help in finding where this little boy is.

Poor little guy. Not surprised mom is giving conflicting stories... Just can't imagine what the real truth is at this point.

Well that certainly adds information.

She is MUCH further along than she's claiming. You can't feel a 12 week fetus from outside the mom's belly, and it doesn't "move around all over the place". The baby is a little less than 2 inches long.

I wonder if there was some kind of "blow up" when it became obvious that she's months further along than she's saying.

I wonder if this is right? First degree murder charges? Doesn't that mean premeditated? The article does not say if both the mother and bf were charged with that. And the article says it is unclear whether the body had been recovered. Has little Bryeon's body been recovered?

Now I'm confused... Further poking seems to indicate the pregnant woman is not Bryeon's mom? Bf lost a baby last September. When posting about finding out bm is pregnant says he is scared, doesn't want to go through losing another one.
How many women is he involved with?
When he discusses the baby moving in bm stomach, he tags Bryeon's mom.
Is anyone else confused?

Poor Bryeon. With role models like this in his life, I am so sad for him.

I will NEVER understand how a mother can harm her child.
My DD is the most precious,priceless thing in my life...I would gladly go to ANY lengths for her. ANY!! I love her with ALL my heart!
I sometimes think these women are missing a gene or something...like they just CANT be a parent. IM ANGRY!!!!!

I'm completely confused. That woman is clearly much further along than she says, and doesn't look (to me) like the pics of Keisha in her own facebook page. Keisha is heavy, and the woman in the green stretchy shirt posing on Michael's page is just pregnant - looks to me like she weighs significantly less than Keisha.

Maybe I'm wrong.

That's what led me to think it was her, but you're right, doesn't look like her from pics on her fb page.

Wow. The mom went to the high school down the street from my house. A helicopter was searching for the vehicle on the south side of Chicago, which is a nice distance from Maywood. The mom has a pic on her FB of her holding Bryeon. As to a different girl being pregnant, KB probably hasn't been with him very long. It's pretty common in Chicago. Our younger generation is horrible. After a month of knowing one another, these kids are calling each other hubby and wifey. That poor baby didn't do anything to these monsters. Let me hug and kiss my 7 month old daughter more than I do any other day. Some say she's spoiled. I say she's well loved. Rest peacefully baby boy.
