I couldn't find any good matches in Namus, Charley or DoeNetwork for this UID. I wonder if she's from so far out of state that noone would be looking for her in Chicago?

Couldn't find a newspaper article about this, poor woman found in a blanket, bound with duct tape, in the Chicago river. Anymore info on this? Poor poor woman :(

IL has been using familial DNA research to solve cold cases - look at Baby April. I do think sometimes it's a matter of catching the right detectives, on the right day, with the right amout of funding!

Bumping up. This case seems solvable. She was recognizable.
I wish there was more information or they could retrieve DNA. This Jane Doe in NamUs:

Maybe we should look at possible cases in which the missing woman is a different race, or she was said to have brown hair, or her height a few inches different, or the missing date could be a mistake?

What about TB? NamUs MP43018:

Her missing date is a few days later, but the reporting party could have possibly given the wrong date? (I know, probably not...)

Her NamUs was modified today; there are no new public exclusions.

How about MP5409, Bonnie Rae Kelly? Doesn’t seem like family reported her missing, so I’m taking her height with a grain (or two) of salt

A new article came out yesterday about JD. Interesting that NamUs doesn’t mention the scorpion ring she was wearing. Looks like a good identifying feature. She was also wearing black Lycra bicyclist shorts. Her race is not known but they mention she could be white, Hispanic or Asian.

February 6, 2025

According to ISP, authorities discovered the body on Saturday, July 12, about a quarter of a mile south of Willow Road in the Erickson Woods / Skokie Lagoons area of Northfield and Winnetka, just south of Lagoon No. 1, and the Dam on the Skokie River.

Huh, I didn't realize she was found in the lagoons. I did a photoshoot right near where she was found a couple years back. Wonder why it says she was found in the 'Chicago River' on her NAMUS page.

I had a hard time finding her thread here as the location is totally different and the ring wasn’t even mentioned. I finally found it by matching the height and weight in the article to the case in NamUs.

NamUs says DNA insufficient but there are rule outs.

A little eerie that you were near that same area previously.

These are the three closest matches to this UP I can find that haven't already been suggested. The main discrepancies being height and weight; however I'm also being lenient in that the deceased was found in water. One article above stated that the UP had been in the water for up to 5 days prior to being located, so it makes me less confident about the first option here, but besides that I think she is a pretty good match.
