Details of Disappearance

Conner was last seen in Chicago, Illinois on October 18, 1975. A former student at the University of Arizona, he had traveled to Chicago and enrolled in the Chicago Conservatory of Music, studying voice and piano.
He lived in an apartment in the 700 block of Barry Avenue in the New Town area, with his piano instructor. According to his loved ones, he was having financial problems and may have gotten involved in sex work. He frequented the 900 block of North LaSalle.
When he disappeared, he left all his belongings behind at his apartment, including his briefcase and his pet dove. Conner's jacket was missing, but was later returned to the apartment by his piano instructor. When the instructor returned the jacket, it had a receipt in the pocket dated October 20, two days after Conner was last seen.
Conner's family does not believe he left of his own accord. He never picked up his diploma from the conservatory, and also missed a job interview he had lined up in Colorado in November that year. He had planned to fly to New Mexico to visit his family, drive up to Colorado for the interview, then return to Chicago. He never used the plane ticket he'd purchased.
Some of Conner's loved ones theorized his piano instructor was involved in his disappearance; the man reportedly "went ballistic" when he found out Conner had started secretly taking lessons from another pianist. The piano instructor said he had no idea what happened to Conner. He died of cancer in 1978; he was never charged in Conner's case. In 1981, the Chicago Conservatory of Music closed due to financial problems.
Little evidence is available as to Conner's fate; his case remains unsolved. Both Illinois and Texas police are investigating.

Location from last seen to where Doe was is 14 minutes in a car.
This is exactly who I was thinking of. IL - IL - Decades old adult male skeleton found at the base of industrial chimney in Chicago on May 10, 2014

Would you like to submit this match or should I? ETA: I went ahead and submitted this to The Doe Network as I had another one to send also.

Charlie's project says that he may have been involved in the sex trade, something like a taxi boy, although I think the professor had something to do with it, he also lived with him, he knew more about what he told the police, crime of passion... just They are theories but I think we will never know what really happened to him.
rest in peace

Bumping. Did anybody get back to you about the potential match? I really feel that this could be him.

I'm reading "Boys Enter The House" right now and highly recommend it, although I'm puzzled as to why the author did not include pictures. Oh, well. Anyway, it reminds me a lot of Ann Rule's "Green River, Running Red" because it's about a serial killer's victims, and this book focuses on some boys who did indeed have very high-risk lifestyles - not going to school, drug use, lengthy criminal records, homeless or couch-surfing, etc. No, Gacy's victims weren't all from stable, middle-class homes, not at first anyway. Doesn't mean any of them deserved their fates.

You could probably call the Cook County Medical Examiner anyway. I'm sure they get plenty of intl calls.

Thank you very much, I may do that! I see that Craig was submitted to Doenetwork for this match by another poster which is amazing news, I may call them anyway as a wee nudge tomorrow.

Mr. Conner disappeared from the Chicago area while teaching piano at Chicago Conservatory College/Sherwood College of Music. Mr. Conner had recently graduated from the Chicago Conservatory College/Sherwood College of Music. He had recently won the 1973 Conservatory Piano Competition of Chicago, and received an honorable mention in the 1974 Conservatory Composition Contest for his "Trio Sonata for Violin, Clarinet, and Bassoon." He was soon going to become music director at the Tabor Church of Chicago, and had been serving as musical director and pianist for the Columbia School of Theater, now Columbia College. The Chicago Conservatory College closed in 1981. Sherwood College of Music is now part of Columbia College.

Mr. Conner, a talented pianist and composer originally from the Santa Fe/Los Alamos, New Mexico area, also taught piano to local children while studying at Los Alamos High School. He would come back to Santa Fe during the holidays and summer breaks to give concerts and work on commissioned pieces. Texas authorities are investigating this case.

I hate that we've heard nothing about either of these two cases.
