At least one of them came to their senses... good! One more to go.

Wondering about the Juvenile (16 at the time, now 18) - his case went to juvenile court - guess we won't find out.

And thanks for the update!

edited to add - I searched but only coming up with articles from April, 2022.... ?? strange!

This article in "not available in my region" - maybe it has "what" Jannie pled guilty to - and/or plea agreement or ??

TIA if someone can get in - and see if that info is in there! :)

Thanks for the heads up, @Niner !
From the article ^ :

"Jannie Perry, 42, agreed to a partially negotiated plea in the death of her son, Damari, who died on or about the eve of his sixth birthday on Dec. 29, 2021. After his death, his brother dumped the child’s body in a Gary, Indiana, neighborhood, according to police.

Perry will be sentenced in late January.

In return for her pleading guilty, prosecutors agreed to drop some of the counts she faced, and they agreed to cap their sentencing recommendation at 45 years, a spokesperson for Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said Friday.

The usual range for first-degree murder is 20 to 60 years, with life in prison possible under certain circumstances. "

More info on her plea & what charges were dismissed.

Dec. 6, 2025

here is what I have for my notes per the article above:
Jannie was charged in January 2022, with first-degree murder, dismembering a human body, aggravated battery of a child, aggravated domestic battery, concealing a homicidal death, child endangerment, abuse of a corpse, parent giving false information, failure to report child death & obstructing justice for the death of her son Damari. She pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder & the rest of her charges were dismissed, which means she no longer faces the natural life in prison sentence. The charge she pleaded guilty to carries a minimum of 20 years & a maximum of 45 years in the Illinois DOC which will be served at 100% in accordance with truth-in-sentencing guidelines.

Nothing surprises me anymore, regarding the Illinois Court systems.

The Lake and McHenry County Scanner reports Perry negotiated a plea deal with the attorney’s office on Dec. 4. She pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and the rest of her charges were dismissed. She no longer faces a natural-life sentence and instead will be sentenced to 20 to 45 years behind bars, the outlet says
Illinois mom pleads guilty to murder in ‘brutal’ death of 6-year-old son she left in a cold shower

I hate that a plea allowing the dropping of the dismemberment and abuse of a corpse counts was afforded this woman.
