Seems to be a Doctor at Rehabilitation Associates in nearby Loves Park. Though I found several sites some with seemingly conflicting info, some list him as a general practice physician and some list him as a general surgeon.

Sinnissippi Gardens is directly next to the Rock River, that might not be good.

81-year-old physician Dr. Mohammed Badruddoja, known to those who know him as “Dr. B”, is still missing after 5 weeks of searching and his family is desperately searching for answers.

[...]

[His daughter in law, R] says the family doesn’t believe he disappeared voluntarily.

“I think it’s important for people to know this is a suspicious disappearance. This isn’t someone wandering off,” she said. “He always needed to get back on Monday, because he needed to see his patients. That was always his priority. There’s no way that he would ever, much less do this to his family, he would never do this to his patients.”

Rockford Police say they are treating his disappearance as a suspicious event.

I live in town and haven't seen any requests for search volunteers, nor have I seen flyers anywhere. Sinnissippi has a long walking path that goes along the river in both directions. There are benches along the path as well - I'm beginning to wonder if he fell in:(

Unfortunately, dementia can come on quite suddenly. I have a dad (he's 99 now) who lived on his own in Washington state. My two older siblings had died as did my Mom so it was just me to care for him. I had to buy airline tickets to visit. He refused to move in with us, not wanting to leave his home town and work where he lived was not an option for my husband and I (forensic anthropologists and mechanical engineers are not in high demand in a small tourist town near the coast). But I'd go out at least every six-eight weeks buying a ticket and renting a car. He went from driving fine and functioning to not remembering my phone number in a matter of weeks. He's in assisted living and quite happy but I can attest that someone can go from functioning to not functioning in a matter of weeks at that age. I'm afraid this gentleman left the vehicle and succumbed to the elements.
