Her father was allegedly attempting to kill a bird that had flown inside. Her mother allegedly hid the gun and tried to convince others not to cooperate with police.

From September 4, 2025:

On Tuesday, Monroe County State’s Attorney Ryan Webb charged her father, 34-year-old David A. Schultheis, with reckless discharge of a firearm and Karen A. Schwarze with concealment of a homicidal death and obstruction of justice...

Per the link above:
Authorities say Schultheis fired a handgun in an attempt to shoot a bird that had entered a brick building. He allegedly only put his arm into the room, keeping his head outside to avoid a potential ricochet, before pulling the trigger.

So a bird got into the house and the father has the bright idea to shoot it to death (by only sticking his arm into the house)? Even if this was a BIG bird, I doubt even a professional marksman could shoot it while it's flying around without actually looking at it. I don't buy it, IMO.

Moo...I want hear the description of the bird. There are way easier ways to get bird out of house...like open a window. No this shooting does not make sense at all...moo

Shades of Scarlett Vickers...

Who tries to shoot a bird with a handgun... Indoors... Without checking first to ensure that no-one (say, a daughter) isn't in the line of fire or ricochet?

Argh.

He sure showed that bird! How dare it fly into the open window or door. Guiding it back safely outside was just not possible. Birds, I tell you. So dangerous.

Well, if this is a true story, this guy definitely needs a gun. Sarcasm
