"According to police, 39-year-old Fabian Redmond was last seen on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Officers said the missing man disappeared as he made his way to the Wind Creek Casino in the 17300 block of South Halsted Street in East Hazel Crest, Illinois.

Fabian stands 5-foot-109 and weighs around 135 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. He was last spotted wearing a white T-shirt, a black hooded sweatshirt with red graphics, black jeans as well as black and red Jordan shoes."

Note: Another article states he is 5' 10" and weights 196 which looks more in line with his picture IMO. I think the article referencing his being 5 foot 109 and weight 135 is incorrect. Chicago Police Seek Public's Help in Search for Missing Man Last Seen Heading to East Hazel Crest Casino

Fabian has distinctive tattoos: a full sleeve with multiple images including a pyramid, the word “Loyalty” tattooed on his upper inner arm, and a name tattooed across his chest. He also has a light, heart shaped birthmark on his neck.

I believe this is his Facebook. Fabian Redmond. His sister has been posting on FB about his disappearance.

Nice looking guy -- his pic shows he is happy and friendly-looking. Hoping for good news soon.

I wonder what time of day this was.

Who saw him last? Was he picked up on traffic or neighborhood security cameras?

Casinos are loaded with security cameras inside and out, if he had made it there they’d have plenty of footage.

Did he have a gambling problem? Gambling has a high suicide rate.

Did he get swept up by ICE?

I did see an unconfirmed comment on social media that said it was broad daylight. Chicago Police irritate me with their releases as it's always the least amount of information possible.

The actual time of day he was last seen, or where has not been posted. The "vanished in broad daylight" was simply an attention grabbing headline on social media, but not backed up by any known source. Family isn't posting anything on FB, I found a comment from a "sister" but that was it and it only repeated what was in the initial report.

So still searching - Found a man with his name (with correct age but no photo) tied into arrests 11 years ago, in a case involving a very organized gang-run drug network. Case involved over 30 individuals though that particular Fabian Redmond appears to be a very small player in the grand scheme of things. The Fabian Redmond age 24 in 2014 named in the case could easily be someone the same age with the same name. Trying to look into it further. Johnny 'Goo' Herndon, alleged Gangster Disciples head, among 34 arrested in West Side drug bust

Court documents here:
https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/usao-ndil/legacy/2015/06/11/pr0807_01a.pdf The Case number shows as "sealed" but I could find it under PACER federal court records as Case No. 1:2014cr00429

It looks like this case may still be active, several orders of protection, attorney's withdrawing, etc, and some court activity in 2024 and 2025 (From Pacer, registration to view, no membership fee equired to register when I did long ago). See attached screenshots. CM/ECF NextGen Live 1.8 (rev. 1.8.3) - U.S. District Court, Northern Illinois

Again, could be a person the same name and age - Chicago is a BIG city - but worth checking further to see if I can find a photo or full name for either the defendant or the missing Fabian. Even if it was him, 11 years is a long time - a lot of people totally change their lives in that amount of time, and a disappearance could be completely unrelated.

I did find an incarceration record for a Fabian C. Redmond in Cook County IL (Chicago) from 2012, discharged and recommited and released from custody in 2016. ᐅ Arrest Records - Cook County, IL

What I'm referring to was a comment on social media, not a headline.

The police statement of “disappeared as he made his way to the Wind Creek Casino” is interesting to me, because I wonder precisely where he was as he “made his way” there, keeping in mind that East Hazel Crest is just a few miles from Harvey (which is IMO and IME as a lifelong Chicagoland resident, has a lot of crime.) Did the wrong person overhear him sharing that he was en route to the casino? JMO

Thanks for sharing the PACER hx @GraceG

Thanks for explaining. Interesting - the headline I saw that was one of those lesser known missing persons FB pages, has since altered the headline and removed the "vanished in broad daylight" so it reads more in line with what information has been officially put out there. I wish we had more details though, it's been 8 days now.

“Made his way…”

Where was his starting point? Did he go on foot, drive a car, take an Uber?

It's possible the comment I saw came from the person reading that article.

I wondered that too. So little information released from Chicago PD on their missing cases.

Some more questions on this. His description - there are often discrepencies between the LE report and other msm reports, so the 135 pounds versus 196 pounds isn't a surprise. But if he is 135 pounds as stated by LE, at 5 10 he would be thin, not unhealthily so, but slender in build. In the missing photo and on FB he looks more mucular. But when I found the same picture of him sitting where it was bigger in viewing, it's AI. Granted, most people when doing an AI photo for social media, resume etc, don't have it look much different than themselves, but the overall appearance IS enhanced, and that might include build.

The msm article previously linked said that LE provided a photo with facial hair? Why isn't msm or the police, sharing that?

When I first posted this, I was thinking handsome young man, perhaps nice car too. . carjacking? Robbery after casino?. . . but the more I look the more questions I have.

I wonder if Area 2/the 2nd District has all of their missing person calls routed to SVU? Or is this out of the ordinary?
“Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 39-year-old Fabian Redmond is asked to contact the CPD Area Two SVU at 312-747-8274 or dial 911.” (quoted from above)

That's not at all unusual. I'm a retired "fed" in Chicago and have worked with them when something we were investigating involving someone THEY were investigating (running, drugs, guns, sex workers, which might include human trafficking victims in small airplanes is going on more than you know.)

Chicago Police Department does not have a single unit officially named the "Special Victims Unit," but rather has specialized units and programs that address crimes against vulnerable individuals.

In reporting addition information (i.e. someone has knowledge of specific facts which might assist in the investigation of a case) one is directed to contact one of three classification
s - Property Crimes, Violent Crimes, and Special Victims. So a LOT of cases go into Special Victims, because they don't fall under Property, and evidence does not indicate a violent crime.
I've attached the information sheets for victims and families from the CPD which might better explain.

Update to criminal history on a Fabian Redmond, current age 39. The court documents for the federal drug networking case indicate his nickname is "Mook" (not that usual of a name). On FB, this morning a friend posted regarding his disappearance, calling him "mook". I can't link as it's FB but I saved a screenshot for IF it's ever appropriate per the rules to share.

So the federal criminal history, beginning in 2014 IS the missing man (the chance of two men in the same area with the same name, birthday, and unusual moniker being next to zero, in my opinion)

Link here for those that missed it earlier. https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/usao-ndil/legacy/2015/06/11/pr0807_01a.pdf Case was tied into the Gangsta Disciples who are still on the fed's radar up here for drug trafficking and racketeering (link to an unrelated case but it gives you an idea of the potential threats this group might post to a current or former member, IMO.) https://www.justice.gov/archives/op...rs-convicted-racketeering-conspiracy-and-murder

From Fabian's Case:
"Beginning no later than in or about 2013, and continuing until the present,at Chicago, in the Northern District of Illinois, the following Individuals did conspire with each other, and with others known and unknown, to knowingly and intentionally possess with intent to distribute and to distribute controlled substances, namely, 280 grams or more of mixtures and substances containing cocaine base, a Schedule II Controlled Substance, in violation of Title 21,United States Code, Section 841(a)(1), in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 846:
