Police issue civil alert asking residents for help in locating 28-year-old man who disappeared in McHenry​

Authorities issued a “civil alert” and are asking residents to check their property for a 28-year-old man who disappeared early Saturday morning amid active searches for him.

The McHenry Police Department announced Sunday afternoon they are searching for Gustavo Guzman-Perez.

The 28-year-old man was last seen in the 1200 block of North Green Street in McHenry. He was seen around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities have not determined whether the body found in the Fox River is Guzman Perez's.

MCHENRY, Ill. — Officials in McHenry County said a boater the body of a missing man Wednesday in the Fox River.

In a press release, the McHenry Police Department said the boater found the body around 3:15 p.m. near the 2000 block of South Fernwood Lane.

The coroner has ruled that a 28-year-old man whose body was found along the Fox River after disappearing from McHenry in May died as a result of drowning, but his manner of death is unknown.

McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein said Monday that his office has completed the final autopsy and investigation.

The cause of death was ruled a drowning and the manner of death is undetermined, Rein said, adding that the investigation will continue to determine the manner.
