Found Deceased IL - Jake Cefolia, 49, jogging, car found, SVP of United Airlines, Chicago, 6 Aug 2020

To successfully disappear one needs money, it doesn’t matter how much money one has made in his life, what matters is if he can access it. I suspect officially missing persons bank accounts are flagged/watched. If you can’t use your own money, you have to find other ways to support yourself. New high paying job is out of the question as it would lead back to your SS Nr I suppose.

Second response to this post. SS number is ALSO not tracked. There was a story of a girl who disappeared from Texas something like 7 years ago, and was working legally under her SSN in Ohio for the last several years, and it was never tracked.

Credit reports can be tracked because someone could pull that information say if you apply for a credit card or utilities and honestly there are legal issues with people randomly pulling your credit as well.

So unless LE has a warrant to access these pieces of information, you are completely wrong on both accounts.

Edit

Missing Texas woman was hiding in plain sight in Kentucky

Weather for Friday August 7th at Midway Airport. Midway is what came up when I chose Lemont, IL.

Chicago, IL Weather History | Weather Underground

I don't hike, but is it normal to wear hiking boots when the weather is in the upper 70's and getting warmer?
Here in Central Florida, my son wears hiking boots whenever he goes out hiking. From grassy trails to woodsy areas and swampy lakefronts he wears those boots. And it's been mid 90's here since April.
I saw a video on the Chicago news showing the
early search teams looking for JC and it was
heavy thick woods with lots of undergrowth.
Not tame maintained trails at all. Looked to need a machete to hack through the greenery.

He has EVERY right to simply disappear. He hasn't sent anyone on a wild goose chase either, he just up and left. Doesn't mean there wasn't foul play but if he is living somewhere in the middle of Wyoming he has every right to do that.

Didn't see the part about him being investigated. THat changes things. Still though, it doesn't change my point that an adult in general does not have to give an explanation to anyone as to where they are.
Really? No accountability to the two minor children he has? I would say just the opposite IMO..

Accountability and legal right are two different things.

I don't choose to hike in hiking boots, but fellow hikers I know who wear them do wear them in all weather. Many hikers like them for being waterproof or water-resistant and the added ankle support. Even if it was warm out, they would wear them. So I don't think it's odd he had hiking boots on if he was really going hiking. But I do have my doubts he was going hiking. JMO

The trails are roughly 5-6ft wide, & kept quite clear year round (with the exception of snow). Some areas are thicker with brush than others, with many clearings & prairie areas (tall grass—which may be why it looked thick) throughout the trail path. Illinois is pretty flat, so there are inclines but nothing your 80yr old grandmother couldn’t handle. Hiking boots wouldn’t be necessary but some people wear them there anyway. As I stated a few pages ago, they may want to check the river on the south end. I almost get a feeling that LE doesn’t believe he’s anywhere in the area.

I’d hope if he voluntarily went missing, that he’d at least contact his children to ease their worries. It’s been almost a month, & I can’t imagine what those poor kids are feeling.

my guess for should be legalized but currently isn’t would be pot
Going back to what the criminal charges might be — I would not trust the Find Jake FB admin at all. He doesn’t have any inside knowledge and I think he’s half a bubble off plumb (if anyone still uses that expression). I haven’t seen any evidence-based theories on what the charges are, just that they exist.

Yes, boots and long sleeves and pants. These garments are to protect the hiker. Boots are a must due to rough terrain and not wanting to turn an ankle.

I tend to agree--he doesn't know a whole lot of facts.
I searched and only found way older court docs, nothing new or even in the past 10 yrs.
Of course, with him now missing, things do get pulled off the web during a case but I have not found anything.

There are no pending charges. Let's not jump from 'investigation' to 'charges'. Not all investigations lead to charges and he may never be charged with anything.

Also found this article about JC being named new VP of Allied Leaderhip Council for GBTA

"Alexandria, VA (June 3, 2019)—The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the global business travel industry, today announced Jake Cefolia, Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales, United Airlines, as the Vice President of the Allied Leadership Council (ALC).
"About the Global Business Travel Association
The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) is the world’s premier business travel and meetings trade organization headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area with operations on six continents. GBTA’s 10,000-plus members manage more than $345 billion of global business travel and meetings expenditures annually."

IMO- he has a huge network of people and places he could go to or be familiar with to "disappear" if he wanted to do so.
I am now wondering if the "criminal charges" could be related to his VP role in the GBTA group. JMO

If they were related to that, would Elmhurst be the lead? I don’t know if it would be Elmhurst or the headquarters of the GBTA in Washington DC. I think it would be DC. I think it could only be something he was being investigated for that happened in that area, Elmhurst, for them to be the lead.

More than likely Federal would be investigating.
I have not found anything in court docs, proceedings, investigating at this time or since the past 10 years, so I'm thinking it may be a rumor.
Who knows ?? Not much being said by LE so we wait.

Some of the things that help to get the word out on a missing person are listed in this article. How to Find a Missing Person FAST ⋆ Unshrouder
I would add some of the following.

  • Invite media to cover the searches.
  • Set up an official family run Facebook page
  • Host a press conference
  • Offer a reward
  • If the info you want from LE Eisner being shared, complete FOIA requests where applicable.
The reality is that media can’t cover the same thing over and over. They need new news. Give them something to report.

I can think of a few different scenarios and reasons for him to be missing. But, the fact is, there is just not enough info known to us to know. I hope for more info for all who care about him.

I just don’t think crimeonline is reporting a rumor with quotes from specific police officers. I think it’s truth.

Maybe someone can help me understand how this could happen? I would think he would have to sign papers. Can you do this online? He put his house in a trust on August 13, 2020. Recorded August 14, 2020.

Pretty sure an attorney can get this accomplished. May have been previously arranged.

He could have a POA, and the attorney could even be assigned as POA.

Well, if true... more credence to voluntarily missing or planned suicide. I guess if one wanted to order the certified document they might see a date signed and by whom. MOO

This could have been done sometime ago and just recorded now. The paperwork could have been signed weeks ago.

I looked this trail up on TrailRunProject, a trail running app. A reviewer said the trail is a "multi-use crushed limestone path", one "with few obstacles, making it great for running". In other words, it's a basic greenway-type trail system with no rough terrain. As a trail runner and hiker, I would not choose hiking boots for hiking/walking/running on this trail, as they'd be unnecessarily heavy. I suspect most runners there would use standard running shoes rather than more heavy duty trail running shoes.

The trail apparently has no shortcuts so once you start it you would either turn back early or be committed to doing the whole 9.7 mile loop. Wearing boots and having left his phone and smartwatch behind, I can't see that he would have gone there with any intent of either hiking or running around the loop.
