SBM for focus

I tend to believe the gf's version of events. Why would he fly all the way to SFO and spend the night - only to break up with her on her birthday?

Circling back to the car photos, I also noticed he parked near a wooden pole, steering wheel is turned to the right, and he was pulled up on the grass a bit. Was this a car ditching spot, either for him, or someone else? Was he meeting someone there? Was he pulling in there in order to turn around, but got interrupted somehow? MOO

Also wondering about the wheel turned to the right and if that is significant in some way, does it seem like an odd way to park?

Besides indicating that JC was at that gas station, could there be a reason for this very long no action clip, to be shown in full - to suggest that the female seen in the other truck, had possibly made plans to stop there at the same time as JC?
Complete speculation, imo.

I'm terrible at adding maps, but if anyone is interested in viewing the street view where Jakes car was found it can be seen by searching Bluff Rd and S. Cass avenue.

It looked like Jake parked along Bluff Road just outside the FP parking lot. His parking the way he did during the day on August 7th wouldn't be unusual on a warm summer day as the parking lot could have been full.

Satellite view shows several cars parked where Jakes car was parked.

HA !!
I wondered the same exact thing-- about the long video and the girl at the pump-- a meet up??
Just my over imaginative mind going off on me probably.
But you are not alone in wondering that.

This reminds me of a John Green book I read while stuck in the hospital last spring:
One day at school Daisy discovers that Russell Pickett, a billionaire construction magnate and the father of one of Aza's old friends, Davis Pickett, has gone missing in the wake of fraud investigations. Tempted by the reward of $100,000 for information leading to Pickett's arrest, Daisy takes Aza on a search for the missing billionaire. After canoeing across the White River and sneaking onto the Pickett property, they are caught by the security guard who brings them to meet Davis.

Witness may have seen missing United Airlines exec Jake Cefolia after his last confirmed sighting at gas station

According to the above article Jake had contact with police *on* August 6th. He was reportedly "extremely intoxicated" and this is why I think the investigation which began before Jake disappeared is related to this incident.

I just don't like to think this guy bailed on his kids rather than facing his problems and doing something about them. There's something about his saying it's all Wendy's fault that leads me to believe this guy's a finger pointer as opposed to someone who owns his mistakes.

I feel terrible for his kids who are enduring their own difficulties due to the pandemic and then to have dad bail on them adding to it is just about as selfish as a thing a parent could do.

I hate his family is dealing with this too. I hope they know more than we do.

Just to be clear the reported contact with police was one fill in the blank date only on a report that could easily be an error.

His being intoxicated was mentioned by his wife who was told by her son in the report. It is possible he was often intoxicated, we don’t know.

What if “it’s Wendy’s fault” was related to the possible prior criminal investigation? Maybe they were involved in something together?

And what if he had not been a hands on dad in awhile? Then running out on your kids doesn’t seem “as extreme”. I still say there is a lot we don’t know.

being clear— all MOO

SBM the pic of the car in this article doesn't look like it was parked neatly in a parking lot space. It looks like its half on the grass. Is that just how that parking lot is?

Edited by me to fix formatting

It wasn't in a parking lot. There is a parking lot a couple hundred feet from the location Jakes car was found on Bluff Road. Bluff road has a gravel shoulder and grassy area which are used for overflow parking when the lot is full.

and then to have dad bail on them

Quote RSBM.

You've ruled out the possibilities of severe depression / suicide, misadventure, and foul play? How are you sure?

I haven't ruled them out. By bailing, I meant any of those possibilities/problems rather than dealing with them. Alcohol is a great escape, temporarily, until it controls a person, who remains in denial and attempts to find ways to control their use. Recovery is work. A lot of work and requires continued life long work. Based on various comments from people in Jakes life who were mentioned in msm, I think he was in need of alcohol screening and treatment. Instead he chose something other than helping himself and the situation he found himself.

Yes, I am aware. Several other people already told me on this thread. Thanks.

Interesting article on 'High Functioning Executives w/ an Alcohol Problem'.
This article claims an 'emptiness' within the
person is covered up by alcohol .
Maybe this was JC's 'hitting rock bottom'.
Your thoughts?

Understanding the High Functioning Alcoholic Executive | Promises Treatment Centers Austin

Excellent article! This puts into words exactly what I was trying to describe. I agree with all if it. I'll add the components which lead to full blown addiction were likely exasperated by covid, leading to a bottom more like falling off a cliff as opposed to a slower descent.

It's not easy to come to terms with admitting one has no control over their use of alcohol, much less doing something about it. At the time of discovery, it's one of the most humiliating experiences a person can face.

However, in the long run it can become the best thing that ever happened to someone because it forces them to learn healthy behaviors..

I think the article describes what may be the reasons there is so much silence regarding this case. No one wants to rock the boat......

I can only hope, maybe Jake is alive and still running. At least that way he would still have the opportunity to get his life back. There is always hope while someone is still alive.

So JC went and got gas then went BACK Home ??
Neighbor said he thought he saw Jake's vehicle leaving house and this was a few hours AFTER the gas station video.
Or was someone else driving his vehicle?
Or is the neighbor confused on exactly what time he saw the vehicle?
so many questions.... UGH

Being in recovery myself, I agree with a lot of what you have to say, I just strongly disagree that the easy way out for Jake was to plan to escape into a new life, rather than take himself out. If he was drinking heavily, I just don't believe he would have the capacity to plan and execute a disappearance without a trace in this technology driven age. I think he would've been found out by now.

PS Congratulations on your sobriety!
