Family members reported that they last saw James M. DePaepe, 50, at 7 p.m. June 30. Other individuals reported seeing DePaepe on or about July 3.

DePaepe has no known address, Milan police said in a news release. He is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes.

He came for dinner, left as a storm was brewing, then disappeared. Now, a year later, his family still is asking "where is Jimmy?"...

Because of the short walk to Mill Creek Bridge, James DePaepe left his bike and wallet at his parents' house so they wouldn't get wet from the storm...

Before he went missing, James DePaepe allegedly told people he had won the lottery from scratch-off tickets. Friend Billie Anderson said that although police found no evidence that this was true, many people claimed to have heard the same story.

The remains found on Big Island have been identified as those of a Milan man who was reported missing in June 2014...

The cause of DePaepe’s death was not yet released, and foul play had not yet been ruled out, according to Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson.
