The vehicle is a grey SUV and was found in the area of 14th and Keeler, however Mojica was not inside.

Why would someone dump the car but take the baby?
Because the baby is the target ?

CHICAGO — Chicago police are searching for a baby after an auto theft Monday on the city’s South Side.

Police said at about 12:46 p.m. in the 2700-block of West 71st Street, a 30-year-old woman went into a convenience store. When she was done, she found her car had been taken by an unknown person, who took off northbound on California.

Chicago police said the vehicle had been left running while the woman was inside the store, and that a 7-month-old boy was inside the car at the time it was taken.

Who leaves a car running with the keys and a baby inside, while going inside a store? I bet she's inconsolable right now.

Or the baby was never in the car. Not saying that's the case in this situation, but it's happened before.

We're on the same page. I want to know if there is any connection between the person who stole the car and the owner of the car.

A lot of mothers do this once. Where I live, it's becoming less common. Its always a fiasco to unload the babies to run in & grab a soda or whatever, 1 car is parked out here, nobody at the register, I'll be quick. They think: 2- 3 minutes max, is all I need, I can see the car from there, I'll be quick- they usually realise the danger before this has a chance to happen though. I hope she can forgive herself and they find this baby. Let this be a valuable lesson. I hate these cases,, heartbreaking paralyzing fear. I doubt she's a bad mom, probably exausted and trying to minimize chaos & work. Ugh

I will say that the FBI involvement in this case makes me think that perhaps there's some truth to Mom's story. But it took me all of 5 seconds to find 4 examples of carjacking hoaxes. It's a really common hoax.

Take the key out of the vehicle and lock it, while still eagle-eying from inside the store?

Too early to tell, but I see the same possibility as azure. Why would the perp take Mom's cell phone out of the car and drop it in the area of the car?

Thank goodness!!!

Is the mother still going to be charged with child endangerment?

  • #15
Thank God, my head was seriously rolling with possibilities, none very good. Where was the child found?
