The term Silver Search is new to me but fortunately, Google is my friend.

What is Silver Search?
On January 1, 2016 Silver Search legislation was passed in Illinois. Silver Search is a coordinated effort to bring awareness, education, and resources to help find and safely return people with Alzheimer’s or dementia that go missing. The Silver Search program wants to bring to light the increasing incidences of people with Alzheimer’s or dementia that get lost and ways in which the public can help law enforcement return them home safely.

The Silver Search Task Force
The Silver Search Task force was created to bring agencies and organizations together with the common goal of creating a Silver Search program and toolkit to assist in missing person cases involving those with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Members of this task force meet regularly to discuss the different areas of public safety and education.

Participating members of this task force are:

  • Illinois State Police
  • Illinois Tollway Authority
  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • Illinois Broadcasters Association
  • Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Illinois Department of Aging
  • Illinois Department of Transportation
  • AARP
  • Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
  • Illinois Secretary of State
  • Illinois Lottery

I hope they find Jimmy soon. I’m worried about him.

This makes me so very sad. I lost my brother (Jimmy) many years ago. I really had hope. I’ve been told I have early onset of Dementia (I don’t believe them but who knows?? I train my brain with puzzles and WS) I got very very lost taking a walk in June, experienced a horrible trauma and ended up in the ER with Detectives from two different counties - long story but I try to read and post on dementia cases I come across. I don’t ever want a thread launched for me…

Too bad. He looked like a pretty cool guy. I liked his wandering getup and I too like to walk around neighborhoods. I wonder why he went in the pond.

A little extra sad that the delay on the identification indicates it was done by dental or fingerprints or whatever because presumably no one who knew him cared enough to identify him.
