Johanna Vera spiked her children’s orange juice with the rat poison, boric acid, Tylenol and Motrin, Ebersole said... The boyfriend and Vera’s roommate called 911 and the three were transported to the hospital. The children survived but there were traces of the liquid mixture in their bodies, Ebersole said.
After Vera pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder, her attorney Michael Bianucci said his client had struggled most of her life and only resorted to the plan “to attract attention” because she was under a “lot of pressure” and stressed over how she was going raise two children on her own.
