Illinois State Police believe the body found near the Embarrass River north of Newton, Illinois, is that of Joseph Delaney of Effingham who was 54 at the time.

Two people accused of helping cover up a murder in Effingham County have now pleaded guilty.

Zebadiah Houser and Kristy Mathis were charged with helping dispose of Joseph Delaney's body. Police say he was stabbed to death in July 2011. Houser was give a 3.5-year prison sentence. Mathis was given 180 days in jail, and 30 months probation.

Prosecutors say Christine Burr is responsible for stabbing Delaney. She is scheduled to go on trial for first-degree murder charges on July 7.

Christine Burr (57) killed Joseph Delaney (54, her b/f) by first pouring boiling water on his head and then stabbing him to death during an argument. I wonder what could have led to that kind of argument. This sounds bad, but I hope he said/did something really, really bad to Burr for her to boil his face and stab him like she did. It's scary to think that someone could do something like that (outside of an 1980's slasher movie) for no real reason.**

The two who just pleaded guilty to helping dispose of Delaney's body (Kristy Mathis [40] and Zebadiah Houser [25]) are Burr's daughter and her daughter's boyfriend. Mathis got lesser punishment as she was the one who first helped out the police. Burr's trial is later this summer.

It looks like Burr may indeed have had a reason to at least WANT to kill Delaney. It looks like the argument was a not-so-friendly discussion about death of her husband. Delaney had apparently sold/given some drugs to her husband that led to his overdose death.
