The man has been identified as Joseph M. Jaquez, 31, of Aurora, according to the Will County Coroner's Office. He had been shot once in the head before his body was placed in the trunk of a car that was set ablaze early Thursday...

Ackerson said Jaquez had not been reported missing and detectives were working Friday to "backtrack" who he'd been in contact with.

Joseph M. Jaquez was identified through dental records, according to a statement from the sheriff's office Friday morning.

Jaquez was found in a rented Dodge Charger along Patterson Road west of Brandon Road in Joliet Township after midnight, authorities said.

Unsolved: A car fire broke around midnight in Joliet Township in the 1600 block of Patterson Road, near Brandon Road. East Joliet firefighters put out the blaze and found a body in the trunk. The engulfed vehicle was a rented brand new 2016 Dodge Charger. An autopsy determined the victim had died of a single gunshot to his head. Dental records were used to identify the murder victim as Joseph M. Jaquez, 31, of Claim Street in Aurora.
