The news article said the shooting happened after two men "exchanged words". Katie didn't work here then, she had only been hired a month ago. Highly unlikely it's related.
The search for a missing Mokena woman has come to a tragic end. The Will County Sheriff’s Office is announcing that Kaitlyn Kearns, age 24, of Mokena has been found. After an overnight search by Sheriff’s detectives, Kaitlyn’s 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee was located in a rural area of Kankakee County. Kaitlyn was discovered deceased at the scene.
RIP KaitlynFrom the article:
The Kankakee County Coroners Office is performing an autopsy and has positively identified the victim as Kaitlyn Kearns. They have confirmed that Kaitlyn suffered from a single gunshot wound to her head. Further toxicology and lab results will be made public upon completion.
...
Sheriffs detectives continue to actively investigate her death and will provide more information as it becomes available. Detectives believe that there is no threat to the community and that Kaitlyn was the intended target of this homicide. (BBM)
Rest In Peace, beautiful girl.
From another article:
Members of the Will County Sheriff Department were at the Outlaws club in Joliet on Thursday morning.
The front of the clubhouse was torn off and a white Dodge Charger was towed. The Sheriffs arrived at around 9:30 a.m., according to neighbor Rebecca Joan.
Lt. Dan Jungles of the Will County Sheriff's Office said deputies executed a search warrant on the clubhouse to further the investigation. He said the warrant is connected with Kearns' disappearance and death.
...
Deputies are talking with a person of interest, he said. They're also talking with the Will County State's Attorney's Office concerning potential charges.
The club was surrounded by crime scene tape as Sheriff's police and crime scene investigators went in and out of the building. (BBM)

I am curious if the charger was towed this morning. If so, then it means most likely the car was either left there or it belongs to someone who works at the bar during the day. Because would the bar even be open at 9:30 in the morning ?
That is my understanding also: It was not the bar where Katie worked that was raided, but rather the Outlaws clubhouse. It was the Outlaw clubhouse that was raided and the car towed from, not the bar, though, if I understand correctly... Sorry if I am missing something.
Something bad went down, no doubt. Sad for those who knew and loved Katie. No one deserves this.
