Yesterday around 4:30 pm @ the WalMart, closest one to park/her home/ect, had a carjacking. Person was caught because they got into a accident, the victim was in the passengers seat. I moved away from the area about 5 years ago, while assaults & robbery were common, carjacking isn't. Also, isn't it common for the person just to take the car? I am for one hoping TS isn't involved & this might be a clue for LE. Gangs from Chicago are getting stronger in the area daily!

It's the SW side of Rockford that really has problems. I work the night sort for a major shipper, and recently we were told not to use the drive throughs at the fast food places after the shoft was over. Lots of car jackings, and women are making their husbands get up to let them in the house when they return home. But this area is 5 miles south of where she lived. We do have a problem with the gangs moving out of Elgin in the Harlem/east Rockford area.

Although family members have said she was in Roscoe “house sitting,” Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police investigators believe Smith was separated from her husband. Smith has expressed concern for his wife

usually the cops wont make any comments about anything...but for them to reiterate their belief of the two being separated really sticks out, doesnt it? i am not sure that everyone is cooperating with le if they are going out and changing their story and publicly accusing le of being all wrong...

I'll never understand why these searches are not done in the first day or two.

Does the search warrant mean that he wasn't willing to let them search unless they had a warrant?

Not necessarily. They would get one anyway at this point, to protect anything they might find.

TS's character from his past is definittely in question. Obviously, whatever turns up from the search warrant is of interest, but I'd also like to know more about is more recent past. Since 17 (house fire, imo is a premeditated attempted murder), at approx 22-26 (not sure of their ages) he must have had the girls...was he married, who was the prior wife, where is she now, when did he change his name. Was Katrina or the girls aware of his past? What other issues besides the elderly investment scam has he been involved with?

There are other questions on here not answered, but may be due to differences between what LE believes and what TS is stating to be true, for example that she was only house sitting....maybe she did leave to go home and he believed she was coming back or had threatened her to come back....and when she didn't....

Did clearly state he expected her back home that night? If so, like stated up-thread, why no report that night? Big discrepancy if that's the case.

I think we've all been wondering why he took so long to report it. I think I know why. If my wife is not home by 10 or 11 p.m., I'm going to start freaking out. That's uncharacteristic of most wives. So I'd probably make some calls. If it's 2 a.m., I'm going to start searching. I'd swing by her home in Roscoe for sure. I'd contact all of her family members. I would call her place of employment. As soon as I knew that she didn't report to work, I'd contact authorities.

If my wife comes home and says she has to leave again to run an errand, I'm going to ask just where she has to go when she was just out of the house. And I'm going to make sure I tell that to the police so that they can alert the public that they want info a missing woman who was supposed to be going to Place X.

Stuff isn't adding up.

Agreed. The fact that she went back out doesn't bother me, could be for many of reasons, the fact that he doesn't know where or why....or started looking like you say after a reasonable hour....however, I would NOT go to bed without knowing my wifes whereabouts.

I wonder if he knew they were separated...maybe she told him she needed to house sit because she couldn't tell him she needed to be separated...maybe fear?

Interesting:

(Todd's brother has asked me to share this statement). "Press conference tomorrow at 4 pm at Schoonmaker Park. Light will be shed on the past. Please come out in full force and show support for my brother Todd. Everyone and anyone...build an army of love. The truth
about the fire and those involved will come out and we will squash the rumors so we can continue to focus on the mission to Findkatrinasmith. Please everyone!" - Dayne Coursey

This family is complicated...that's not Todd's original last name, nor did I think that was the name of the brother in the fire documents...blended family? Half brother? I'm confused... :waitasec:

Will they be answering questions at the press conference? I have a few that someone might be able to ask for me:

1. Why did Todd wait a whole day before reporting his wife missing?

2. Why are investigators searching their home?

3. Why was Todd named as the owner of a company accused of bilking elderly citizens out of thousands of dollars?

4. Why did LE say that they are separated when Todd says she was housesitting?

5. Who owns the condo?

Those are just a few of the many things that I don't understand about this case.

Maybe he took the name of his first wife?

i agree... i seriously doubt they are going to answer questions -- they wont tolerate any questions on the fb. i dont even see how "explaining the past" is going to help - le is who must need the explanation since ts said they have it all wrong.:twocents:

I Just think this is a bad idea on his part. Wondering if he will be arrested before the press conference. Trying to explain away what he did in the past and blame someone else? Not smart. Just keep the focus on Katrina and don't talk to the public anymore. How else can you explain away trying to blow up a house? At 17, which is Austin Siggs age.
