I keep thinking about the wallet... how it was found so far off from all of Katrina's other items. Even if everything was planted, is the fact that the wallet was found in Rockford a relevant thing or completely irrelevant?

In the old days, people who would find a wallet would take the cash and leave the rest. But now, with identity theft so prevalent I'm wondering if perhaps her wallet was originally left somewhere near all of her other items, someone found it, intended to keep it, then later realized they were carrying the wallet of a local MISSING WOMAN and then just ditched it. So in short, I'm wondering if a 3rd party, completley un-involved, perhaps dumped the wallet, which would explain why it was so far away from the other items. It was just a thought I had.....
Opinions? Ideas?

I've thought this exact same thing. That someone may have taken it and then dumped it when they realized what it was. It could have also been placed in the high crime area with the intent of someone picking it up and then the cops then finding someone else's finger prints on it. It seems its a ploy to try to get someone else's fingerprints on her stuff and hope that they then thing that person hurt her.

Her wallet was actually turned into the cashier at the Family Dollar on Tuesday but they just held it in their lost and found until Friday when they realized who it belonged to. It was then turned over to the police.

It was already in the lost and found in the store when news of her disappearance was first reported.

I completely share this same thought, however knowing the area, the chances that the wallet was turned in is rather amazing. For it to appear there, I am shocked it wasn't picked up and disappeared forever or got put into a dumpster.

Yea just meaning that the person who dropped it probably hoped that it would be picked up or cash taken out and left so there would then be someone's finger prints on it who could then be considered a suspect.

wow and an interesting post indeed. I notice he spoke only on behalf of himself and Margo (TS birth mother) and was nice and sincere.

I agree. What I meant by my post is that I don't think someone found it, held onto it until they realized who it belonged to and then dumped it again. I think whoever took the wallet from Katrina purposely scattered everything around the area to possibly throw off the searches. Either that or the person didn't realize that he/she had her wallet and just tossed it out of the car to get rid of it.

Kaltved says 100 people joined in the search on Saturday and Sunday. He says they found duct tape, gloves, paper towels, and a shovel in Rock Cut State Park.

I asked a couple days ago as to whether they were using search dogs. I haven't found it reported and my question is still up in the air. This "find" would appear to be a good time to bring in the SAR and HRD cadaver dogs. Wouldn't they be able to make a positive hit or even lead the handler to a possible find of Katrina?

Going back to actively trying to find Katrina, early on there were reports of directing searchers to concentrate on or near water at Atwood, which is near the car/home/original evidence area. There is an Atwood Golf Course in that area as well. Looking at a map, what about SETH ATWOOD Forest Preserve in New Milford? I know it is a long shot and I have to believe this has already been thought of..... Are we concentrating too close to home and should be branching out a bit? Its a lot of ground to cover....

Actually... Tha t did happen in a recent case in Australia... Jill Meagher's..

A person found JM's purse... Then tried to secretly put it back when he/she discovered LE was searching for it!

but the area where it was put back had already been searched thoroughly by LE... Oops!

Nothing really new to add or anything but I'm reading! Hoping for some good news like her being found alive and unharmed but also - hoping that if she's no longer with us, that she is found so her family can mourn and justice can be served.

I haven't read much about Katrina's family. From what I understand she has no biological children. What about parents? I know her brother Chad is in Rockford looking for her day and night.

I don't know.. On the find Katrina FB site - I just got this overwhelming feeling that LE know's who is responsible. I don't know why I felt that way but when I read what was updated 2 hours ago basically saying "at this point we are unable to provide any further info concerning the investigation. No answers about a kidnapping, abduction, etc."

I know it sounds like they are clueless but IMO, they are watching someone very very closely. Reminds me of the Sierra Lamar case ---quiet, quiet, boom.

I suppose it's definitely possible. What makes you think that would be a good place to search? (not suggesting that it ISN'T a good place to search, just wondering how your wheels are turning)
Basically, with the little information we know- the car in Machesney Park, her marital home in Machesney Park, her "housesitting" home in Roscoe, wallet found in South Rockford, she could basically be ANYWHERE.

Well, early on I had heard the searchers were directed to Atwood, which there are 2 Atwood locations close to the area, a large park and a golf course. I have read that these have been searched, but when I pulled up a BIG map of the area and surrounding areas, I see a SETH ATWOOD forest preserve immediately south of Rockford that has water running thru it as well. Im not sure where the initial Atwood lead or suggestion came from, but I do remember hearing Atwood. Could it just be a DIFFERENT Atwood? Its just a thought....

i have been wondering about that golf course for awhile now...does this course close in the winter months? and it there easy access to it or is it all fenced in?

I haven't been able to keep up, so sorry if this has been discussed already ...

I know someone brought in a dog early in the searches, but why hasn't LE brought in their own canines? Or have they?

I feel for Katrina's brother. It reminds me of the Kristi Cornwell case. Her brother sold his vacation home to raise money for searches and a reward. He also took a leave of absence from work to search for her. Eventually he did, not far from where she was abducted.

Ugh, where is she????
snipped for space:
"I feel really sad for Katrina's brother. Poor guy who I'd love to hug and make soup for as he is on FB saying how tired and sick he is."

OMG, how precious are you! You just made my day :)
