Found Alive IL - KD, 13, & CD, 2 weeks, Madison County, 18 Sept 2016 *Arrest*

Wonder if her posting this was her cry for help? Remember, a 13 year old mind thinks totally different than you or I.

By her leaving when the guardians/foster parents were not home, I am certain it was planned this way. He probably told her not to tell anyone. You know what your mind is like with a two week old baby, much less a child hearing the crying and constant demands of her baby, she is exhausted and doesn't know if it's day or night. She has to be mentally confused as to what the future holds for her baby. He may have told her to go away with me and we will raise the baby together.

Perhaps he is the only adult she has close to her.
Good post 1&2&3 as I never thought of that. I think she may have posted before she had the baby so maybe she was trying to let it sink in.

Maybe this is just me being all nit-picky but something that has REALLY ticked me off, is LE calling her a "young woman". Just NO. On every level of no.

Just because she's of the bio-age to ovulate, conceive and give birth does NOT make her a young woman. She's still a child. She JUST turned 13 for the love of God.

My CHILD who just turned 13 this summer, sat with us at dinner and talked about how scared she is of entering high school next year (we're kind of a year ahead in Canada), how boys are still creepy (let's be honest, boys are creepy for a long time, lol). How excited she is for her grade 8 year end trip to camp... and a bunch of other innocent, child-like things many 13 yr old girls talk about. Yes, I know there are some 12-13 yr old kids engaging in sexual activity but that means squat, in the long run. They don't have a clue what they're doing and they're still children at that age.

This poor little girl has been catapulted (not by her own choice) into an adult world, a good 10 years before she's even mentally, physically, spiritually or even psychologically ready. She is NOT a "young woman". She's just a girl who needs real, caring, smart adults in her life that need to be protecting her from filthy pieces of trash that might seek to exploit her.

God let her and that precious newborn be okay. Let them be found quickly, receive whatever medical care they need, and let her be placed with people that will genuinely protect her, and her baby boy.

Please be okay.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed so disregard if it has. Do we know why she has a previous name? Perhaps someone could explain in greater detail the reason for two different names.

TIA
Yes, she changed both her first and last names when she was adopted by her step father. Many on fb still refer to her as A, her birth first name.

Why change the first names? Seems so strange. Did all the kids names change? How confusing for a child. I understand the last name but I really don't get changing the first names.

That bothered me as well when they called her a young lady. She is a child How are they heating up the babies formula? So many things
I guess we have heard nothing since they were supposed to be sighted in W VA?

I worry that everyday that goes by,the chances of finding them gets harder and harder. They can be who knows where by now. I'm sure they know the police are looking in WV and so they've probably left that area. I also think the little girl actually thinks she is in love with this guy and wants this. So she is probably not putting up much of a fight. I don't understand the name change thing.. the no contact order... The whole thing just stinks. I can only hope he will mess up somewhere along the way and will be caught.

The fact that there have been no further "sightings" just reinforces my fear and that pit in my stomach.

IF her abductor has listened to the radio, caught a glimpse of a newpaper, seen the news or driven past any Amber Alert signs, HE KNOWS he is the subject of a manhunt. He would also KNOW his dirty secret is NO secret anymore.

Think about it y'all. If he had a pure motive or if her well-being was really important to him, he would have dropped her and the infant off somewhere safe (then probably made a run for it). He has not.

If there was some innocent reason for what he did, he would turn himself in and attempt to explain himself and his actions. He has not.

He knows he will EVENTUALLY face law enforcement, the news media and a public who think he's a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 that took advantage of and exploited a child in the worst way possible.

I PRAY I AM WRONG.... But in MY OPINION the reason there haven't been further "sightings" is because he's NOT on the run anymore. (Yes, there's a chance he may be hiding in a campsite somewhere for a few days.) But the point someone made about not even having a way to heat up baby formula is an EXCELLENT POINT and it's petrifying!!!

I don't think he's going to let himself be caught alive at this point. Again, I PRAY I'M WRONG.

Thoughts????

I have had the thought "If we can't be together here" Then let's go where we can be together for eternity. I hope I am wrong on that count. It is troubling that there have been no more sightings of them

Remember the little girl from Rogersville that uncle took and was found in the woods by men on 4 wheelers? Please anyone out there that has abandoned property or vacant buildings whatever check them all atv owners please go searching. They could be anywhere.

I'm hoping for some Walmart surveillance camera somewhere. Seems to be a popular stop for criminals!

Please let K and Baby C be found safe!! I can't imagine how a 13 year old who just had a baby is dealing with all this! She has a long, hard road ahead. I hope they can be placed with a wonderful family who truly helps them. She's just a little girl.

I feel like it's not being played on the news as much anymore. I hope they aren't giving up.

Good idea! Same with Hoosgirl's about surveillance cameras, especially at WalMarts.

*The aggravated kidnapping charge alleges that Christopher Derleth knowingly and secretly confined the teen and the child. The child abduction charge alleges that he violated a court order issued on Aug. 16 in Bond County that prohibited him from concealing or detaining the girl. Both charges are considered Class X felonies punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

*Derleth’s bail has been set at $200,000

So they don't have him yet but have his bail set.

I don't understand this either. It makes me think it was part of the plans to leave town.

If they're going places together they'd be really easy to spot - that's an unusual combo - a full grown man, a 13 year old girl and a tiny newborn.

If he's got them holed up somewhere in a cabin and he's the only one going out getting supplies, there's virtually no way to catch him, IMHO, except the van is a tiny bit unusual. If the public are even informed and are looking for it.

I agree with this. I bet he is leaving her and the baby in the car while he runs into places. By now he probably has his beard shaved.

Eventually the money is going to run out. They couldn't have that much.
