My Inlaws in south central IL are avid mushroom foragers. In the Lewiston area the Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge in Fulton County allows harvesting for personal use and prime foraging for morels occurs from April through early May. If that was his goal he might be found in or around a moist/wooded area. His daughter is posting search updates on FB.

At that age, he most likely had some kind of medical issue. I sure hope he's found alive.

I couldn't see the link to @oceanverde 's sad post (the media source IS there in html if you try and reply so a glitch in posting apparently). Here is another link to an msm article. He was found not far from his vehicle. An autopsy has been completed and routine tox tests are pending but they have said it's not foul play. Likely a medical event IMO, as others have said.
