Chicago police suspend investigation into disappearance of pregnant postal worker

Chicago police announced Friday that the investigation into the disappearance of a pregnant postal worker has been suspended.

Kierra Coles went missing in October 2018, and her family hasn't stopped looking.

Police said the missing person case is still classified as high-risk, with foul play suspected.

That's sad - I wish they'd had more tangible evidence in this one.

I guess with no evidence they can't do much else, and if the ex won't cooperate, there's not much they can do.

We can hope the perp can't keep his or her mouth shut and eventually starts talking. This case is so maddening.

It kills me to read that the investigation is suspended. This beautiful, bright, young woman who was pregnant is just gone, there are no answers and nobody to hold accountable. Unacceptable IMO.

Kierra Coles' family fights to keep case active on missing pregnant postal worker's birthday

The family of missing Chicago postal worker Kierra Coles marked her 28th birthday Thursday with a plea to keep the investigation active.
Coles went missing nearly two years ago in October 2018. She was three months pregnant at the time.
The day was somber as the family fights to keep her memory alive, demanding Chicago Police reopen the investigation into her disappearance.
"She would have really did it big. That is just her - that is her demeanor," said Coles' mom Karen Phillips. "She would have had her baby and that would have been exciting if we could have shared this with her."
In July police suspended their investigation, saying they'd exhausted all leads.
Police said the missing person case is still classified as high-risk, with foul play suspected.

“[Kierra Coles' mother, Karen] Phillips said Coles seemed happy in their last conversation; Coles asked her mother for advice on what milk to drink during pregnancy.

In that last conversation, Coles also told her mother that her boyfriend was planning to come over the night of Oct. 2, Phillips said.

Phillips said the last time she saw the boyfriend was when she filed the missing person report, and after that, he ‘vanished.’ Coles' boyfriend could not be reached by ABC News and the Chicago police declined to comment about him, citing the ongoing investigation.

‘looking for leads, just hoping somebody will come forward.’

‘Somebody knows something other than the person that did whatever happened,’ she said. ‘For you to just sit there and not say nothing ... I just wish somebody would have a heart to say, “I'm gonna give this family some justice.”’” (BBM)

Karen Philips, the mother of missing U.S. postal employee Kierra Coles, said she prays every night for a good night's sleep because she knows when she wakes up, her nightmare begins again.

“It feels like a replay. Every day, the same feeling,” said Philips. “Day after day.”
