(hmm....speechless)

Letters prove nothing. She was quite young when he went away. In the two years that he's been away I'm sure she's matured and once he was back home, she probably saw him for the worthless piece of chit he is. That's probably the reason she was defiant and didn't go home with him. It's been just her and her mom and her mom said she could go play.

... and Hobbs' wife believes he was railroaded.
This is not gonna be pretty.

Thanks for the links randf. I am speechless as well. If this mother is going to stand behind this man then I want a crack at her. She has a gd letter?! WTF does that show? The man has a violent history for crying out loud! She's choosing this man over her slain daughter?!!!! NO!

Laura Hobbs' grandfather, Arthur Hollabaugh, has publicly supported his son-in-law ...
Above taken from the NBC5 slide show captions. It appears there are more delusional people in this family than just Momma and Daddy.

Ok, can't help myself here ... she has "THE" letter to prove how close they were. One freakin' letter? Who wrote it?

Ok, that felt better, now ...

Maybe there were more but she doesn't make it sound that way.

I stand by my earlier post, she's defending herself and her decision to bring him back around.

Maybe granddad is justifying things too. "surely I wouldn't let some true mudering lowlife live under my roof, there's got to be some mistake. ..."

You know I could understand the thought that he was railroaded or the confession had been coerced if this crime had taken place a month or two ago and the LE still didn't have any leads...you know, public pressure to catch someone...but LE railroading someone after a day??!! What would be the purpose? LE WANTS to catch the people who do this, there is no way they are going to railroad someone...they have a confession and I'm sure they will have physical evidence to back it up...I think the mother is simply in denial right now, probably to preserve her own sanity. She's probably thinking "if I had never let him back in my life this wouldn't have happened" so to help herself cope she has to say to herself that "this isn't possible." Hopefully in time (sooner than later) she will come around and realize that she shouldn't be standing behind this monster...hopefully.

What's a potato knife?

Does she still feel that way after he confessed?

I hope you are right about the family being in denial. I can understand being shocked that you lived with someone capable of such an act. I sincerely hope they stand up in the next few days with the Tobias family against Hobbs. I can't imagine wanting to defend such a person.

Yes she feels the confession was derived from him being railroaded.

Look, I'm the first one who will throw this mother (and any other mother) under the bus when subjecting their kids to ANY violent people, fathers, uncles, what have you. However, if anyone is going to play "devil's advocate" here, I will in this case. While this mother may have done NOTHING right in her relationship with this murderer, I seriously doubt that she thought he would murder her daughter. I personally will give her until after the funeral for the shock to wear off and the anger to set in. If it doesn't, she's fair game as far as I'm concerned.

That bus already left the terminal when she moved him back in, jmo

Well, that is not what I was imagining. I was picturing a pocket knife type of thingy. Thanks for the pic.

Cripes! That is just crazy!

I suppose she's having a hard time dealing with the fact the her husband killed their daughter.

Dunno, she can't be thinking clearly now. Maybe she wants him free so she can see that justice is served (ok a little on the weird side but you know what I mean)

I feel really sorry for her. I blamed myself the other night when I clipped my one of baby's nails too close and he cried. We are supposed to be the caretakers. Does she have a record and a possible reason for not trusting LE. I just can't imagine in my wildest that she's really defending him with sincerity because of love or whatever.

I just keep trying to sort it out.

I was thinking more like this myself...before I googled it

If they are standing up for Hobbs, can you imagine what the Tobias's are feeling? I'd want to rip them apart. Poor family. All so sad.

I just think personally it is impossible for us to imagine what she is going through at this time, unless we have been in the exact same position. If evidence somes out the back up the confession and she STILL stands behind them, then I'll rip her a new one...ditto for the grandparents...but for know I will stand back on pointing fingers at her.
