*7 year old Maria Ridulph was kidnapped and murdered in 1957 when playing outside with her best friend Cathie Sigman on Dec 3 1957. Her body was found 5 months later.
* Maria was describe as a sweet and kind little girl.
*According to Maria's mother Francis, Maria was only allowed to play near her house and not allowed to venture away, Maria was forbidden by her mother to never cross the busy road or cross certain busy streets due to busy traffic only if she was with her older siblings.
*Maria's parents did not get along well, Francis was the boss of the family. Francis would always complain that her husband Michael did not spend enough time with their children and right after Maria's kidnapping Francis blamed Michael (her husband) that he was to blame due to not properly supervising Maria when she was playing outside that evening. Michael blamed his wife for letting Maria outside to play unsupervised. The parents later divorced a few years after Maria's murder.
*In 1956 Maria wondered off with her best friend Kathy as they went to play in the local cemetery. The parents were frantic as they couldn't find their little girl anywhere that they called the police and had a neighborhood searching for the child, as soon as the search party was looking for her, Maria was seen walking back to her house and she got into trouble for wondering of. Maria picked up some pretty flowers from a grave when she and Kathy were playing among the graves, the parents threw the flowers away. Michael was given a whistle just in-case so goes missing again, in which he used that same whistle when Maria went missing on that evening Dec 3rd 1957. Also Francis blamed her husband Michael for not going to the police earlier as they were searching for Maria for over an hour and Francis mentioned if they went to the police station as soon as they heard she was missing they could of found her, and she called her husband a idiot.
*Maria was in the 2nd grade and went to West Elementary School. On the 3rd of December after school Maria was one one the many students who helped clear the blackboard writing in which Mrs. Christenson mentioned it was a privileged for her students to help her out after class and her 2nd grade students really enjoyed it. She was described as a very nice teacher and she was completely devastated of Maria's kidnapping and murder that she quit teaching all together and left Sycamore shortly after.
*After school on Dec 3rd 1957, Maria went to one of her friend's house where they were collecting some juice-cans to decorate their classrooms for Christmas time. The kids then all went to Maria's house to cut out paper snowflakes to decorate their classrooms with paper snowflakes for xmas time.
*Kathy was the boss of Maria (in a friendly friend way) as Kathy was a year older and a year ahead in grade, Kathy was 8 years old in the 3rd grade while Maria was 7 years old in the 2nd grade they both went to the same Elementary School at West Elementary. Kathy wanted to play outside after dinner and she told Maria to ask her mother if she can play with her, when Maria returned to tell Kathy that her mother said she can't go play outside after dinner Kathy then told Maria to beg to her mother and Maria did just that and beg her mother until she gave in. Francis denied to let Maria to play outside after dinner as it was dark and also knew that Maria was scared of the dark. But after begging so much Francis finally gave her permission to play outside only if she was with her friends, Maria then said she was going to play with Kathy and said they are going to play "by the big tree". Maria wanted to wear her new coat but Franics told her to wear a older jacket to play in fear it would get dirty if she wore her new jacket, Maria hated that old jacket as it was a hand me down old jacket of her brother Charles which he wore when he was 7 years old, but Maria wore it anyway as she was too excited to play outside with Kathy. When Maria came back inside later on she wanted to take her new doll outside with her, but Francis said to take a older doll out as it might get ruined in the snow. Michael then saw in the corner of his eyes Maria busy rubbling through her toys in her play corner and then went straight to the door and wondered its a bit late for her to continue to play outside as it was getting dark but knew she must of had got permission from her mother to continue to play outside.
*Maria and Kathy sometimes got into arguments when playing with each other when they were playing with their toys and dolls in Maria's play corner. And sometimes Maria would hit Kathy and then Kathy would hit back resulting in both children crying and Francis had to break up their fights. But the girls made up quickly as they were best friends.
*Maria's 11 year old brother Charles sometimes play a bit rough with Maria and resulting in Maria crying. And Francis was quick to yell out to Charles "Stop making Maria cry" and explained that Charles does sometimes play a bit rough towards Maria when they played together like playing with a boy his own age.
*Sometimes Maria and Charles played upstairs on the beds by jumping up and down and under the beds. Her parents said they have a ball of playful play together. When ever Charles mentions to Maria that he wants to play on the beds Maria eyes would lighten up wide. Charles and Maria were very close siblings and Maria would follow Charles everywhere and want to play with him. They both shared a bedroom together. Charles sometimes plays with his friends a rough ball game outside but didn't let his little sister Maria play with them as she would of gotten hurt, the boys were his age group between 12 - 14 and all boys game, so his 7 year little sister Maria would of sure be hurt if she played with them. Charles was so devasted over Maria's kidnapping that he had to stay over at his auntie house as it was too much for him to cope of his missing little sister Maria.
*Maria had two older sisters Patrica who was 16 years old and Kay who was 15 years old. Sometime her older sisters call Maria bratty, and they often did not give Maria much attention like when she wanted to play dolls or tea parties with them. But that is normal due to their big age difference as they were older teenagers and Maria was a little kid of age 7.
*Patrica and Kay had boyfriends they were dating, and when ever some nice boyfriend who was very kid-friendly toward Maria, Maria would run up to them everytime they came over at their house, and the Kay or Pat boyfriends would lift Maria high up in the air.
*One time a garbage man came inside the Ridulph house and Maria rushed up to him wanting to ride inside his rubbish truck but the garbage tip man didn't take her as he didn't know the parents well and wouldn't be right to take a child unknown to him on a ride in his truck.
*Maria had a friend he was 6 years old, he was a year younger then Maria. The boy liked to play with dolls with Maria and the boy would play with dolls when ever he came over to Maria's house and they would play together all the time. The boy's mother was devastated when she heard Maria was kidnapped and so was the boy as he mentioned Maria was his only friend and said she was very friendly.
*Maria played a lot at her play corner of the house where she keeps all her dolls and toys she plays with. When ever her grandfather comes over to the house who was 74 at the time in 1957, he just adored Maria so much and he would play with her when Maria was playing with her toys in her corner. One game Maria loved to play with her grandfather was a type of hand clapping game she would clap her hands with her grandfather's hands. When Maria was missing Maria's grandfather stayed out all night to the early hours of the morning with the search party looking for his little granddaughter Maria. When he came back inside the Ridulph's house he looked drained and started crying and mumbling his words to himself "Why this little girl? why would someone take this little girl!!!"
Maria Ridulph was a outgoing, friendly and intelligent little girl. Her whole family, parents, friends, teachers and anyone who came across this innocent child just adored her. It must have been a great sad lost when this little girl was kidnapped and found murdered. So disgusting someone can harm and kill a innocent child. That person/adult who kidnapped this little girl, he would of got his bad karma in life.
**I urge anyone who is interested in this case please read the police reports/fbi and especially the interviews with family to get to know who was this beautiful little girl named Maria Ridulph. Maria was always described by anyone who met her as a very friendly, outgoing, happy and shy little girl. It just makes you really sad to think this innocent, joyful little girl was killed at the age of 7 years old, she was a very special little girl and hoping she is at peace now with her parents.**
