BUFFALO GROVE, IL — An 83-year-old Buffalo Grove man remains missing Tuesday, according to the Village and police. Naum Ferdman, 83, who has dementia, was last seen at around 5:30 p.m. Monday after leaving a residence on Old Oak Drive, near Buffalo Grove Road on foot.

Ferdman has grey hair, brown eyes, a short white beard and is 5-foot-10, 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown winter hat, black coat and dark blue sweatpants. Police said Ferman is in possession of his wallet and keys, but does not have a cellphone on him.

More details were released by police Tuesday afternoon, including that Ferdman speaks Russian and knows very little English. He is described as being very shy and not likely to ask for help.

Ferdman told family members, who were the last to see him, he was going for a walk to a local school park.

Following a previous incident, Ferdman was located on Buffalo Grove Road near Vernon Hills. A local alert has been sent to residents and a Silver Search for a missing person has also been activated.

Police are asking people to call 911 immediately if they see him.

I do worry for these people that live in the US and can't speak English. Outside of their immediate families, it must be a very limited and isolated life.
I hope Mr. Ferdman is found. And soon.
It's still cold out right now, even more so at night.

Dementia is much more isolating than a language barrier.

Good point! Thank you.
The poor man must be petrified. I can't believe no one hasn't seen him wandering around the neighborhood. I hope he hasn't gone off somewhere rural.
Please be found.
