A Park Forest police officer who was shot in the head last month during a gunfight with a burglary suspect is out of the intensive care and making "incredible gains," police said Wednesday.

A Park Forest police officer was critically injured early Saturday, and the man accused of shooting him is dead, after an exchange of gunfire in the south suburb.
