IL IL - Paul Love, 22, Galesburg, 2 Oct 1947

  • #21
I wonder if this old home ever had ties to the University of Illinois Galesburg? Could it have been used at extension offices or maybe fraternity or sorority housing?
I hadn't given it any thought, but that could be possible. I hope Galesburg PD still has the case file from Paul's disappearance. I can't find anything that states the address where he lived. Seems weird for him to simply vanish after visiting a record store; he intended to go back after cashing the check. IMO, it's highly unlikely he decided in a moment to hitch a ride to CA.

I wonder if he had a connection to the house on Losey Street or whether the home was along the route to/from the record store from wherever Paul had been or was going. I'd imagine back in 1947 the record store may have been on Main St., which appears to be about 0.6 mile, depending on the available route back in '47.

So many unknowns. If those are Paul's remains, it'll be interesting watching this case unfold.

Now in Namus.

Not in Charley.

Can’t find any updates on the attic remains.

Galesburg’s Darkness - unattributed site dedicated to the story with many additional details.

More info on the check. Also, he left behind $1,400 in his checking account.

Was this case ever ruled out? Is this Paul Love? i feel like it matches up and the sketch looks a lot like his face shape!
