Found Deceased IL - Sheila Khalili, 27, Bourbonnais, ONU student, 5 May 2017

I live near Bourbonnais. My brother is working on the new I 57 interchange at 6000 N Rd. and he said they are searching a pond now near 57. Others are commenting that the radio reports this also. They have requested the use of a machine from the construction site to pull a vehicle from the pond. 😔 This area is north of the Bourbonnais exit, between Manteno and Bourbonnais.

Ummmmmm why don't we want to talk about it?

I find this statement by the Lawyer odd. If something happened there then that's where you start.

I don't get it.

In missing persons cases, I find statements like that super frustrating. Someone goes missing and the family reaches out to the public for help, but wants to be dodgy with details. Very, very frustrating.

Oh no .... I haven't been able to find anything MSM-wise -not even Twitter-, but the location makes sense ... :(.

Thank you for your post, and for joining us here.

The Daily Journal just posted a story. I'm not sure if I can share a link here?

My brother said they just pulled the vehicle out of the pond.

Yes, that is the area, but this map is old, because it doesn't show the interchange being built. There are now a couple of ponds near what will be the exit ramps.

Grrr .. if indeed Sheila, she would have been only 10 - 15 minutes away from her destination, Bradley:

I'm sorry, my bad: Plus, the ponds my Street View link shows are on the wrong side of the freeway. I will try to delete my original post.

I'm guessing that was a bar, so admitting she was there would lead people to jump to conclusions about her driving drunk, which would then lower the number of people searching for her due to the amount of judgmental "that's what she gets for driving drunk" attitudes.

Is it possible that a vehicle could have exited the highway and gone in to the retention pond without hitting a barrier or causing any visible damage (to trees etc) that would indicate an accident had occurred? It's hard to tell from the Daily Journal photo.

There are no barriers due to the construction on both sides.

A pond dug near a construction site, usually for overpasses or exit ramps, to provide dirt for the project.
