Body believed to be missing Gary woman found in forest preserve: FBI

On Tuesday, the FBI confirmed the found a body believed to be Buchanan in a forest preserve in Illinois. They said she was the victim of a kidnapping. No other details were provided.

Results of an autopsy are expected Wednesday.

No one is in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday for a woman's body found in a south suburban forest preserve that is believed to be a missing Gary woman.

In a Facebook post, family members said Sidne-Nichole Buchanan's body was found at Thornton Lansing Road Nature Preserve Tuesday. Law enforcement officials have not confirmed the identity of the body.

The FBI's Gang Response Unit is handling the case believes she was taken back to Indiana against her will before she was killed. Her body later dumped in the forest preserve about 20 minutes away from Gary.

A female body was found in an Illinois forest preserve, the FBI confirmed Tuesday. Authorities believe the person was the victim of a kidnapping but have not yet identified the body.

Last week the FBI offered a reward for information about missing Gary woman Sidne-Nichole Buchanan, who is believed to have been kidnapped.

“Our investigation has revealed that Sidne was last seen in Illinois but we have evidence that she was in Indiana after that. The presumption is she was taken across state lines against her will until we find evidence to the contrary,” FBI Supervisory Special Agent Mike Peasley said Saturday.

Person of Interest Sought in Gary Woman's Disappearance
The FBI is searching for a 38-year-old man who appeared in a Facebook Live posted by a missing Gary woman during a concert where she was last seen.

Authorities said they are looking to question James McGhee, of Gary, in the death of 27-year-old Sidne-Nichole Buchanan, who went missing on July 27 after attending a concert in Tinley Park. According to the FBI, McGhee was the last person Buchanan was known to be with before she disappeared.

The FBI in Indianapolis confirmed McGhee is the same person seen in a Facebook Live video posted by Buchanan during the concert, just before she disappeared.
