Activists call on FBI, public to help solve Calumet City cold case murders
Activists are asking for more help in solving the cold case murder of a young girl 41 years ago in south suburban Calumet City.
''CALUMET CITY, Ill. - Activists are asking for more help in solving the cold case murder of a man and woman 41 years ago in south suburban Calumet City.
Toni Lynn Caposey was just 22-years-old when she and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Jacob Bird, were found shot to death on March 23, 1982 in her mother’s home in the 1500 block of Lincoln Place.''
"Calumet City Detectives continue to review the case and see if any new leads can be developed to solve this crime and bring closure to the family, friends and loved ones of Toni Caposey and Jacob Bird," the statement said.
A $25,000 reward has been offered that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
The family is also asking for the FBI to investigate.''

"We know there's been a lot of case that have been cold cases that are solved with new technology and that's what we're asking for," Guillen said.
At the time of the initial investigation police said there were no signs of forced entry into the home, but the back door was unlocked. Also items from Caposey's jewelry collection were missing and never found.''
