"Vasudeva Kethireddy, 76, left his suburban home about 8 a.m. Saturday and headed to Englewood, where he owns rental properties, according to police and relatives. Kethireddy was last seen on surveillance footage depositing checks at a Chase bank near 69th Street and Ashland Avenue about 6:15 p.m. Saturday....

About a year ago, relatives said, Kethireddy was clubbed from behind while working at one of his rental properties. His car was stolen....

Vasudeva Kethireddy is driving a white 2005 Toyota Prius with Illinois license plate No. AR74968. He is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds."

He was last seen in Chicago's West Englewood entering a bank. He had gone to the South Side neighborhood to collect rent from tenants there. He was last seen on surveillance footage from the Chase Bank at 69th and Ashland.

Police found his car in Englewood Tuesday. Kethrieddy had owned and operated properties in Englewood for years.

Family members are concerned because he was carjacked in 2017 and ended up in a hospital.

It seems very possible he was targeted, maybe by a tenant who knew his schedule? In Englewood really anything is possible- including completely random, violent crime. It's probably the most notorious neighborhood in Chicago at this point. Going to the bank at 69th with a lot of cash seems incredibly risky. I hope he's found safe.

You really have to be aware of your surroundings when you go do your banking, anywhere!

I'm so concerned about this man. He has grandchildren. The photographs online of him with his family are heartbreaking.

"Kethireddy was last seen on surveillance video on Aug. 4 in the parking lot of a Chase bank in the 6900-block of South Ashland Avenue in Englewood. His white 2005 Toyota Prius was found Tuesday in Englewood."
Search continues for missing Rolling Meadows man

So, I am understanding this to mean he never made it into the bank.

I've seen on news reports here that they have video footage of him entering and leaving the bank.

"Shantan Kethireddy said his father had been collecting rents that day from at least six properties he owned in the Englewood area, depositing checks at an area bank. About 4 p.m., he was seen on video surveillance at a Chase bank branch, where he had withdrawn a large amount of cash, he said.
“He didn’t seem in trouble. He walked calmly into and out of the bank,” Shantan Kethireddy said."

So, he did make it into the bank. I was thinking that he would have gone to make a deposit of the money he collected. Here is states he had withdrawn a lot of money. Yikes!

"The missing man’s white 2005 Toyota Prius was found Aug. 7 near 60th and May streets, authorities said. Its license plates had been removed, but no other details about the car or its contents have been disclosed."

The plates being removed could be telling... if they are not saying anything about the contents I would imagine that there is something to say about the contents. This poor man and his family!

He took out a large amount of cash. I wonder if this was usual for him or if he was being forced. Is there any footage of the car in the parking lot? He could have been under duress even if he seemed calm. The perp(s) could have threatened his family if he said or did anything. This poor family.

Additionally, it could have been a scam. The article stated that he bought houses and fixed them up. Maybe someone conned him into thinking he was buying a house, and then it went bad.

Englewood is the worst neighborhood in Chicago for crime (or at least one of the worst).
