I just hope they have JD on suicide watch. If there is any truth in the accident thing, it would be a shame for him to end his own life over the remorse he feels. Especially without having his chance in court.

Yes, it's happened before (actually, twice in the county just south of there) - maybe not out of remorse.

I'd be shocked if any EMS/4 professionals who located the body would talk to NG or JVM or Dr. Phil et al, but there may be a few volunteers wanting 15 minutes of fame. What's telling to me is the mother was not front & center of this. If they truly believed Willow was abducted, why no face time with the StL media that was there on Monday morning? :banghead:

I agree that if there was a party at the house that night, LE already knows who was there. This is a community full of people who love to talk . . . know from experience.

Oh, back to what we were talking about earlier about J appearing normal or whatever on social media...remember Ariel Castro's fb, how normal it was...and MJK's? And Speer's...and those 2 guys who killed that girl just to see what it would be like...the list goes on...

Wow, I sucked at spelling that.

I really hate how smoking pot has been relegated to the equivalent of smoking a cigarette. This is an illegal substance. Yes, it might not make you act crazy....but it can impair you severely.

I can't imagine how our society has now minimized the use of marijuana. We can disagree respectfully, but I know very few pot smokers who restrict their drug use to a joint. They tend to move on to other drugs....and most of these have more serious effects.

Whenever I say this, there will usually be an onslaught of naysayers. And that's ok. But I am simply stating that this is "my experience." And I really don't feel like rehashing all of that. Let's just say its personally painful.

I would love to talk to every kid who is interested in smoking pot. It probably wouldn't help much...but if it made just one stop and think, it would be worth it.

Let me preface this by saying that I am sheltered. What I know about drugs, I learned through research related to cases on here-- especially bath salts, which I thought were like epsom salt for at least 6 months! :blushing:

Lots of posters were discussing hard(er) drugs that might cause someone to lose their grip on reality. I just didn't want to drive down the "drugs made me do it" avenue if I didn't have to.

And, I honestly don't think that drugs had anything to do with this case. But, since I took such a hard line about the topic earlier, I wanted to acknowledge that I was wrong as CD's dad said all of his children smoked, drank, and smoked pot--except for Justin.

And since Justin is our focus, I don't think that drugs played a role.

Now... Is it possible that mom was high on pot and imagined she walked downstairs in a house that has only one floor? Who knows.
Did she eat the pop tarts and cereal herself instead of serving to her daughter who was not even there? I don't know.

And, I have my serious doubts that a 3 year boy who lacks a lot of verbal skills is interested in watching The Princess and the Frog on video. If it's on tv, maybe. But, actually going through the time and effort to "put in a movie"? Probably not. When my boys were in that stage, they were more interested in Thomas the Tank Engine and Cars the Movie.

I strongly doubt that. No matter how stoned I was, I don't think I would mistake my own house for a two story when it was only a single story. :twocents:

http://fox2now.com/2013/09/10/suspect-being-held-for-suspicion-of-murder/

Dale DeRyke says Justin was babysitting the little girl on Saturday night. He says the two were playing, chasing one another around the house, when Willow ran outside. He says there is a pile of sticks he keeps in the back and the girl fell into them.

“A stick went through her and through her head,” he said Tuesday night. “She was laying there twitching and dying. My son is 22 years old. He’s not….he’s never had experiences like this. He was scared. He hid her body.”

Who was watching the young boy while he hid Willows body?????

I hate to think what he has seen

If they were on drugs at the time the first instinct could be self preservation and not calling 911 to save Willow as they may think she was already dead or close to it.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! IMO. The "Ice" is right! :twocents:

I can only post on this case in the middle of the night. Otherwise, I am reading like a madwoman. You guys can fly with your posts!

I sense some serious deception about what really happened with Willow. Was there a party that lasted all night? Is this why mom was in bed and "ill?" What is up with the "we had an argument" statement?

Let me say that if there was an accident in a stick pile in the family yard, the search dogs would have hit on that. The blood would not just be on the stick involved, but blood would be all in that area. How did the uncle "put her out of her misery?" By strangulation? How did the uncle transport Willow to the area where her body was found? By car? Why didn't dogs hit on his vehicle? (I don't know, maybe they did and this helped nail him).

I just know this makes me sick. I feel so frustrated for children who have parents or "loved ones" who aren't watching out for them. I mean, accidents happen. But I really don't feel like an accident is what happened here.
You have brought up a point I have been waiting to hear being reported in MSM...

Has there been investigations/impounding of the vehicle(s) at Willow's house?

It seems like it would have probably been most convenient to transport the poor angel by car... Rather than by foot...

additionally... The vehicles could have played a part in the whole set of events that I have not even thought of...

JMO...

As far as I can tell...Ciara telling authorities that she came downstairs and noticed the kids were watching a movie - is hearsay. Reports from news people say she said downstairs, and the missing persons descript said she came downstairs, but I can't see anywhere where an LE stated in an interview or briefing that she said the word "downstairs". If someone else can find where a law enforcement official stated she told them that...great.

...so far it's hearsay from newspeople.

I feel so horrible for Willow's mom. What parent/caregiver hasn't fallen asleep - especially when they were feeling sick - when they were supposed to be watching the kids? She probably thought it was no biggie but this turned out to be the 1 in 1,000 moment where things go terribly wrong. Imagine the guilt she must be feeling.

There are allegations that she smoked pot, but I don't see how that would be relevant unless Willow's murder was drug-related. Smoking pot doesn't make you a bad parent, not unless you're neglecting your child to do it, driving while high etc.

Man ... I'm an atheist but news like this makes me wish the Christians are right and that there is a Hell for people who commit crimes like this. R.I.P Willow Long, and I hope your killer is brought to justice

Maybe she came "down" from a high...not downstairs...JMO

I'm wondering if she said 'downstairs' or just simply 'down'
Does anyone know exactly what was supposedly said?

If she just said 'I went down to check on them...' etc, then she could just mean "down the hall"?! I personally wouldn't say that but who knows, it's plausible. Or another idea, maybe it's a somewhat split level? I've been in single story houses that just have 3 or 4 stairs leading up to a bedroom, den, etc. I really don't know anymore, this is just odd on all accounts to me! :scared:

I hadn't thought about that. It's possible. I don't think the kids would be in there though, since the little brother supposedly pointed to the front door.

If there was indeed a party on Saturday night, surely one of those 600+ people who came out to search for Willow would have been present at said party. Remember, according to Wikipedia, this town has 729 residents.

Someone needs to talk.

Very good point! :thumb:

Exactly...it's pot--a plant -- not some freaky deeky synthetic carp. It makes you chill and hungry (lol-IMO). It does not make you a psycho killer . Even the new NATURAL strains are not gonna make you tweak out...moo...

Anyone who has actually smoked real pot will agree that the last thing on your mind is actually accomplishing anything...much less murder :eyeroll:

...maybe ordering pizza --but even that can be a looooooong drawn out process... ;)

or maybe the words down and downstairs were never in play. In the Sheriff's interview I linked above he was pretty specific about what they "knew" (for the general public anyway) at the time. I didn't hear anything from him saying she said down or downstairs. She said back to bed. I don't know...just an observation from a noob :)

You know, I recently lost 2 childhood friends to heroin overdoses because the people they were with were high as well. Instead of calling 911 they moved the people that were in trouble out of sight and continued to party while they tried to figure out what to do. By the time they decided to drop them off at the hospital they were already dead so maybe this scenario is a possibility. We all hope that people would use common sense and save the person but it wasn't the case with my friends. I would hope a mother and an uncle would have more sense than that though.

Not sure if they got this directly from police...it does not say according to LE...but, this is where we read it.

"The girl’s mother told police that she checked on her daughter and 3-year-old son around 8:45 a.m. Sunday then went back to bed because she felt ill. The mother told police that around 10:45 a.m. she came downstairs to check on her children and couldn’t find Willow".

Having a beer used to be illegal. And Heroin used to be legal. So that shows how much relevance the actual legality of things like that have.
