Girl!

That is a phenomenal research..
Let's Rock!
Well done you!.

need a walking route from his apartment... how much time would it take, carrying a weight?
But, of course it's possible he drove too but I'm sure cops would already have searched for a drive and tracked him if he took a car.
Unless he parked up at a shopping centre and walked the rest of the way?
What's your gut on it?

Oh yes, BINGO! At the time I enjoyed watching them , very spooky t thought. And then in one video did we turn a corner as spot a chest freezer sitting there. That scared me so much I almost wet my pants yikes. Or have I misremember and after so long it's become whishful thing, seeing the freezer, NOT peeing my pants. I didn't have the regularity spare pair lol.

Countries that abolished the DP are not "civilized"... just stupid. They're helping criminals (not their victims), because capital punishment is the best deterrent ever (not 100% deterrent, but the best one anyways)
Let human lowlives live the rest of their life in prison (at taxpayers expense...) is not "civilized"
To me one of the best things you have in your criminal justice system is the death penalty (the only problem you have is that you don't execute those who are sentenced to death as soon as possible but keep them in prison for ages...).
Please don't take Europe as a model. At least not for the death penalty...

You rock! I agree

I recall some of the debate at the time.. we thought it would be too warm an environment, at that stage we still thought she might be alive, well, I did, as usual, but it would not be too hot for a vat of chemicals if he used that... not sure how much access he had to the science laboratories to 'get' the necessary chemicals... it's a possibility. Another possibility...
There will be other places too, we need some students here...

“Yingying Fund” for international students at U of I launches on Monday:
Family of Yingying Zhang, slain Chinese scholar at University of Illinois, to launch fund in her honor
Yingying Zhang endowment will be officially announced Monday

Meanwhile, does anyone know for sure where things stand regarding a landfill search — has it definitely been ruled it out, or still under consideration (and if so when might there be a decision or plan)?
I heard nothing since.
I've put feelers out here and there regarding a search... nothing. Meaningful.
(I was watching the SAR techniques and mechanisms during the Nora Quoirin search... not much of it is of value at this stage in the search for YingYing but certainly would have been at the start...
The missing links are where that car drove after picking her up and where it drove subsequently that weekend...Is it possible the duffle bag contained only food storage containers and that he took it to where he had hidden her in an effort to destroy her body elsewhere?
I'm not buying the landfill or his local dumpster either but I know others feel otherwise.
What is a do-able plan?
Can we make contact with the Chinese community at the college?
Can we make contact with working trained search teams in Illinois?
Do we have anything concrete to offer them as an incentive apart from theories?
Concrete! Damn, that's a recurring thought in my mind.. that he used concrete to hide her body, it's easily purchased for innocent reasons... but then he would have had no trophy...

It's gonna take more than thoughts ad prayers to give her mother a fighting chance to reclaim her life.

Just a week or so ago someone contacted SAR. They will only act with LE involved so LE must take the lead in that situation.

She contacted cadaver dogs and yes, for buildings access need LE to obtain permits etc, but there is no law preventing anybody walking the streets and wastelands with cadaver dogs as long as no trespass occurs.
LE have given no indications they are averse to such a search or any search at all, but we need to be offering them good solid reasons or tips..
This is why I suggested we look at the buildings one-by-one, research each one individually.
Here in Ireland we have a census every year, this census must account for every single person in the country on a certain date and an address of the abode they are occupying on the night of the census.
Is there a similar recording happening in US?
Is it possible to learn names of occupants of every building on certain dates and is this information a public record?
That info would lead us to abandoned unoccupied places that may appear occupied but actually are not and have not been for a very long time.
A building he could conceivably have had access to?

Again, it's tiresome work but LE may be restrained by budgets or all sorts of things, as amateur sleuthers we have no such restrictions.
I wrote to UIC police and I copied their reply here.
It was prompt courteous and interested.
That's enough for me.
They're open to taking a look.

The next bit is the hard laborious process of undertaking such a research intensive project.
Are you up for it?

No. A census is taken about every 10 years. Plus, census data is not available to the public for 60 years.

Is there any quick way to figure out who owns buildings?
That would not tell us whether they are occupied or not, I know...
Here we have a property registry and one can find out who owns each place via that registry, but not current occupants.
Every plot of land and building is accounted for.
Voting registers? I know this would produce a mixture of commercial and private?
Lists of vacant properties? Properties on demolition lists?
Any other ideas?
I cannot think how to do this a faster more efficient way, while working purely online.

How one can find out who owns a property varies from county to county. Some counties make it easier than others. We’ll have to ask those who live in Champaign county to tell us.

(I’m starting a little WS break tomorrow anyway, so I won’t be checking in very often.)

Ok will keep you posted via DM if anything significant arises, if you like?
Enjoy the break..

Champaign IL is in Champaign County. Here is the best place to find out who owns a particular property:

With regard to the food storage containers, it is my belief that S******d used them for the prizes he collected from this heinous occurence. He might have left them in dirt or concrete or a mixture of the two, or has them stored in a damp location.

As for the pipe tunnels, I noticed gangboxes and lockers located in them. If a search was done of the tunnels two years ago it may have been precursorly or not in depth as they may have been looking for a complete body and not parts of one.

With regard to the food storage containers, I believe that he used them to store his prizes of this heinous occurence. He could have buried them in soil, concrete pieces or a mixture of the two.

Also, in the videos of the pipe tunnels I noticed gangboxes and lockers that would make good hidey-holes. If they were searched two years ago it may have been precursory, as at the time they were looking for a whole body, not just parts of one.

I'm not at all sure the tunnels were actually searched 2 years ago, only that somebody here discovered them and put up the videos...
But I never saw a report of an official search of them or conclusive proof that he either knew of them or was ever actually there. His facebook page was up all the time. Never found his other social media sites, like Twitter, just the dating sites and Fetlife.
Should we assume that he did not use a vehicle to transport her there? Police would have spotted it, they certainly would have had a good look having discovered it's movements on the day he abducted Ying Ying?
Did that vehicle ever move again actually? It appears to have died. One trip in it's entire lifetime... fBI cases!!!!!!!
If they don't wanna do it, drop us a few files and we'll have a shot at it, maybe we want it more and would try harder?

The food storage containers contain an identifying number on the shop receipt. I googled it for that particular shop on that particular date but nothing showed up.. I'm not very skillful online so somebody else might have better luck on a new search?
I just wanted to see the size of them to try to identify the size of a hiding place he might have needed.. I also wonder whether he used them to hide photographic equipment and images of his desecration or other nefarious practices he indulged with...demonology and the like... He surely didn't develop a sudden interest in these subjects following his incarceration. It's possible but not saying a whole pile for the jail reputation.

Here's what I think is going on now. They put out a story that she may be in the landfill, at the same time they say they may not believe BC. So now you've got an unconfirmed rumor that would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Meanwhile the lawyers have swooped in to help the Zhanngs in the civil suit.
So...you tell me..which one do you think they're gonna focus on??
