The article was updated. It appears they have not told the family anything about the location/fate of her remains....

Knowing that there was likely going to be a decision on the death penalty this week, Beckett said he’s been in close communication with the family and the U.S. Attorney’s office. He relayed the information to the family Friday prior to its public release.
“It’s bad,” Beckett said of their reaction.

“They are very, very emotional. They wanted their daughter to come home and if not, they want her remains to come home. So far, they’ve had nothing,” he said.

So, it does not appear that they have found her remains, although it is still possible they might be waiting for DNA testing and won't notify the family until they have the results....
In that case, why don't we continue to search for her remains?

I just wish they would give even one detail of even something they had eliminated..
Destroyed or concealed.
Which?

We may still find her..she's still missing, lets try.

Hey, I'm back to post but been lurking all along. I am not shocked that there was another sex assault victim, Ive believed that all along. I still believe there's prob middle/high school gf or cousin that's had the **** scared out of her and never reported because she felt it was her fault, and certainly won't now.
I'm comforted that the federal justice dept has found cause to charge death because that must mean there's significant evidence.

I like this judge, he's not buying into manipulation of the facts or victim blaming. He is still a judge and has to consider each side carefully, especially to avoid appeal in the future.
If she's found farther than 1 hour or closer than 20 minutes away I will be surprised.
I am still feeling Clinton lake. Call it woman's intuition.

Also: The notice says he expressed a desire to be known as a killer. This fits what I heard from a Chinese source: they had found writings of his where he expressed a desire to be a serial killer, and wanted to kill at least one woman of every age, ranging from something like ages 18-99.

Creepy.

Do you have a MSM or LE link for the writings expressing his desires to kill?

I am not surprised at the decision to pursue the death penalty. I too hope it may mean something concerning the Boylston remains.

I don't think the defence will be surprised at the decision. It will mean they have more time to prepare I guess.

When is trial likely to be now?

Some of this case is reminding me of the Kim Wall case.

RE: the writings. I don't. The source is the notice of intent to seek death. They say he expressed desire to be known as a killer. This desire could've been discovered in writings they found, it could have come from conversations with the informant in jail, it could have come from his taped conversations with TEB, it could have come from interviews with others he had interacted with online, or some or all of the above.

I too hope that the Wayne County remains have something to do with this, but they have not indicated anything to the family yet. Maybe the forensic anthropology exam plus some things found with the body point strongly to it being her, and that sealed the deal for seeking death, but they don't want to tell the family just yet until they have 100% confirmation from DNA results. I doubt it though.

No idea on the trial. It WILL be delayed by several months, most likely, but no idea on the date. All that we can be confident of now is that it will NOT be starting on February 27th. So, we won't be getting answers any time soon unless he starts cooperating. I feel bad for the family. It won't take away all their pain and completely end their suffering, but it would help so much if they could have some answers sooner rather than later. I hope that if it is going to be another six months before this plays out, that prosecutors and the FBI will sit down with them and tell them what they know about what happened, and what they know about what likely happened to her remains. If they know they were likely destroyed, I wish they could at least tell them this.

I haven’t read the latest document very closely...do we know how this victim MD came into the story? Is it something he bragged about to another inmate? This has to have been a victim who didn’t report the assault as he didn’t have criminal record prior to this. Correct?

Further questions we don’t know the answer to but are swirling in my head...did his wife know of his sexual violence? Did she know of victims during their marriage? You have to wonder if this victim MD had reported that assault... would YY still be here today? :(

Lazy here... Does anyone have links to, or attachments for the recent legal documents? I feel the need to review.

We have no clue at all, today is first we heard of it.

AFAIK the wife is off limits for discussion...but I do know this, Champaign judges and the DA is very lenient here. They often give slaps on the wrist for things and if the prior offense was charged as a domestic violence incident then chances are he wouldn't have gotten much if any time. My neighbor in Urbana was robbed of $50,000 worth of belongings, her thief was given a slap on the wrist and out in less than 6 mos to reoffend.

Also just in general, dirt bags are good at hiding their evil acts. Think of BTK, he was a church decon and an otherwise upstanding citizen. John Wayne Gacy was a successful manager and businessman but behind it all he was molesting boys. . . You just never truly know a person.

No idea yet on how MD came into this. People on another site are theorizing she probably approached investigators after BC was arrested.

Anything is possible. Very reasonable to assume had she went to authorities back when it happened, BC would have been in a world of legal hurt, and with the way campuses are now about alleged sexual criminal activity, he could have been kicked out. He never would have had a chance to hurt YY. But, no way for her to know this, and there are all sorts of reasons she could have come up with to decide not to pursue it; she could have met him through an online BDSM fetish site and concluded she wouldn't be able to show that the act was non-consensual.

I feel for her. Has to be awful knowing BC could have killed you, and knowing that if you had made a different decision, YY might still be alive.

BC had no criminal record, so he likely was never reported for anything by anyone.

.

Holy crap. That's just ludicrous and insane. Heck of a job, Julia Reitz. Jeebus........

Exactly why I am glad this is on the federal level. Julia Reitz has plenty of blood on her hands with her absurd plea deals that have put murderers and burglars back on the streets so she wouldn't have to actually do the work she was elected to do.

And sorry, I didn't mean that to read he had a criminals record just that even if the MD victim came forward earlier, BC would have just gotten a slap on the wrist by Julia Reitz and camp and he would have been right back there on the streets to offend again.

One thing still most interesting to know is how he got YY into his apartment, whether it's forced or with some excuse. If it's excuse, maybe something like: I forgot something at home, I need to pick up it before driving you to your appointment. Or: someone is waiting at my home, let's go get her, then I'll take you to your appointment. Or? (It still seems unlikely he could have forced her from the car into his building)

BC married in 2011
md occurred 2013
YY - 2017.
What else happened I can't help wondering.

The reference to his future dangerousness made me realise what a truly courageous woman is the wired girl.

I hope she receives the protection and the respect she has very much earned.

BC picked her up at ~2:04pm and at 2:38 she got a cellphone call from her landlord she failed to respond to -- I s'pose she could've thought, 'well, I'll be there in 5 more minutes so I won't bother responding', but far more likely the implication is that she was already incapacitated within that 34 min. window... and thus did not go willingly to the apt.

yeah, what else indeed!? I had checked unsolved crimes in Wisconsin earlier and now just did a quick check of cold cases in Illinois here (limiting myself to females within last 10 yrs.):
http://ilcoldcases.blogspot.com

...but nothing really jumps out to me (and I don't know if BC ever came to Illinois prior to admission to UofI?).

I can't get away from his phrase of "avoiding detection" for additional crimes -- could just be false braggadocio as some suggest, but could also imply his delusional 'perfection' over time of certain methods/procedures.
The words, "heinous," "cruel," "depraved," "torture," from the documents keep jumping out too -- LE must have some pretty serious/solid evidence to be employing such terms (...didn't someone way back try to check for BC's various aliases on necrophilia-type sites and of course BDSM sites?) There's so much of this guy's history and travels we're still missing.

26 years ago I was kidnapped by two men I knew and taken out to the country. When I realized what was happening and what they were going to do to me, I jumped out a window of the moving vehicle and ran into a cornfield. I was 17. I never reported it because I didn't think I would be believed. It was two men's words against mine.

It's not her fault that this happened to YY. There are many reasons she may not have reported it.

Many sex crimes go unreported because defense lawyers tend to blame the victim. "She had too much to drink" "she could have said no" "she wanted it but then regretted it" etc... Sex crimes go unreported because the victim fears they won't be believed or worse during trial all of their private sexual encounters will be aired on public record. If MD met BC in FetLife, I'm sure s/he wouldn't want to come forward in fear of being ostracized for his/her sexual preferences.

Vmmking, thank you for sharing your story. How terrifying that must have been for you. Glad you survived.

The thing about MD is that they have to be CERTAIN of it, otherwise they wouldn't include it in the legal document. If it's not on his record, I wonder how that aspect played out exactly.
