Hi, im new to this and I was trying to find out how I would go about finding someone who can help me locate someone, shes not legally a missing person but we know shes sick and we cant find her. We just need to know where to start because the police department won't help.

@Larharvey88. To officially make this a thread where we as a group can participate in searching and passing on information found you must have an official mainstream media report of them missing or a LE report. I realize your good intention, but it's for the safety of everyone (random example: the "missing person" may have a safety related reason for being "missing" i.e. domestic violence victim not wishing to be found by their potentionally threatening domestic partner).

But I can offer you some pointers that I use to find info on people that's generic in nature:

Check court records for the county in which they live
. Not all counties have such information publically available for free, but over 80% of them do. Putlic records might show a recent traffic ticket (with an address), or other court action (often minor but may have recent address or contact info).

Check FB or other social media under their name or any nickname they commonly use. Sometimes they might just be in the comments on someone elses post, but you can see activity or perhaps a mention of what they are up to or where they are enjoying their day.

Search in a search engine such as google with their name and residence city. You often can get email addresses, previous addresses or names of relatives.

Type their name in a search engine such as Google, and then enter "arrest" or "mugshot". Sometimes something comes up.

If the person is an adult, Law Enforcement doesn't necessarily get involved unless there is some evidence that they are missing by other than choice or they are "endangered" due to physical or cognitive reasons or at risk of harm by another. As an adult we're allowed to go "off grid" and not talk to people inclueding family without LE being involved.

Check LinkedIn pages if they have a career type position. May show a recent change in job and/or job site location.

Car registrations won't yield anything but the make, model, state it's licensed in. Do NOT fall victim to the many scam sites that offer info on a person from a vehicle registration for a (surprise!) fee. Most of the ownership info is not publically available, you'll just pay a fee and get the same info you can find with google.

Due to HIPPA constrictions unless you're family or other party named by the individual to have records released to you specifically, you can't find out anything from a direct inquiry to a hospital or treatment center.

If they have a job that requires a state license (cosmetologist, nurse, etc) the state shoudl have a record of contact info that's publically available.

That's just a quick overview but you'd be amazed what you can find sometimes.

Why are the police not helping? Did they say why?
