Short version: For just $ 3 a month, you can help keep Websleuths going and get some cool perks, too. Details below or click here to join.

Hey Sleuths,

For over 26 years, Websleuths has been a digital campfire where truth-seekers gather, a place where facts battle fiction, and where compassion fuels every discussion. It's where YOU have helped shine a light into the darkest corners, seeking answers and justice.

Maintaining the servers and ensuring dedicated volunteer oversight for rumor-free, fact-first conversations requires steady support. That kind of unwavering support that can only come from the heart of our community: YOU.

That's why we're thrilled, and frankly, deeply hopeful, to introduce Websleuths Guardians – our brand new paid membership program!

Become a Guardian Angel for Truth!

More than just another subscription, becoming a Guardian transforms you into a Guardian Angel for Websleuths. For just $3 a month – less than your average fancy coffee – you become a vital part of the force that keeps the lights on, the servers humming, and our shared mission of truth-seeking not just alive, but thriving.

By becoming a Websleuths Guardian, you’re taking your place on the front lines, ensuring that everyone searching for clarity, for facts, for a community that gets it, can always find it here. You’re not just a subscriber; you’re a protector of what makes Websleuths special.

Exclusive Perks for Our Guardian Angels:

As a heartfelt thank you for your commitment, Guardians will receive some fantastic and exclusive benefits:

  • Wear Your Support Proudly: Show off your dedication with an exclusive Websleuths Guardian user flair that tells the world you stand for truth!
  • The LOL Reaction Returns! Yes, you read that right! Some replies are just genuinely funny, and our Guardians will once again be able to express themselves fully with the much-missed and oft-requested Laugh-Out-Loud emoji (and other exclusive reactions to come soon)!
  • Extended Edit Powers: Made a typo or want to refine your thoughts? Guardians get an extended 2-hour window to edit threads, comments, and DMs. Post with greater peace of mind!
  • Monthly Insider Chats: Join Tricia and the Mods for an exclusive monthly private video chat on Zoom! This is your chance to connect, discuss anything you like, and get the inside scoop in a relaxed, private setting.
  • And More Exciting Benefits Coming Soon! We're already dreaming up colorful Guardian-exclusive themes (like Websleuths_Retro, and Websleuths_2099), new private spaces for off-topic discussions with relaxed rules, and other surprises just for you!
Why Your Support Matters More Than Ever

Every single Guardian who steps up for $3 a month directly funds the essential infrastructure and oversight that allows evidence to shine and keeps Websleuths the respected resource it has been since 1999. You’ll be joining an exclusive circle of our most dedicated members, a true fellowship committed to keeping this a sanctuary for fact-based discussion.

This is your chance to ensure that Websleuths doesn't just continue, but flourishes for years to come – a beacon for all who seek answers and responsible true-crime discussion.

Hi

I have a question! Is there a way of being able to donate anonymously? I and possibly a few others would be happy to donate but don't want the banner and badges under our names. I don't want the possibility of making others feel bad if they're not able to donate.

Edited to add: I would still like the 🤣 back (most important!) and other perks just without the flair.

I appreciate the question, and you are so kind and thoughtful to worry about making others feel bad if they're unable to pay! There are always other ways to support the site for free! Just reading, posting, liking, and sharing posts to other sites is massively helpful, so I hope if people are unwilling or unable to support us financially, they can still use Websleuths like they always have. More users, more posts, more shares on social-media -- it all helps our showing up on search-engines, gets the attention of the media and law-enforcement... It all helps.

I will say that the technical solution we used to create the Guardian membership also powers whether or not the flair is shown. It's baked in to the forum software, and backing that out would be time-consuming and problematic to implement.

Not for nothing, part of the reason the flair is there is precisely to encourage other people to join. I'm all for trying to make WS a safe place for people to feel comfortable -- our mods do herculean work doing that -- but I also don't wish to be overly protective of every issue.

The program is only a day old, so we'll monitor and adjust as we go. If we can accommodate you, we'll certainly try.

I understand. Thanks for your response.

You can also go to DNASOLVES.com and donate. This helps Websleuths stay ad free as well and it won't show up on your Websleuths account.
Thank you Allabouttrial. We appreciate your comments and your participation.

I must add, however, that donating to DNASolves.com won't get you the perks of being a Websleuths Guardian!

Just curious...can you pay to become a Guardian with Paypal?
Of course I'd be very grateful for you to do so! Unfortunately, the PayPal connector that works with our back-end software is buggy. The simplified explanation is that when a payment provider successfully completes a charge, it's supposed to send a signal back to us to let us know the charge went through successfully. Stripe sends that signal, but PayPal does not.

So frustrating!

I am a DNAsolves subscriber! also have been here 17 years not 10! thanks! and cool!
I have badges made up to year 15, but I still have to upload them, set them up, and configure the scripts to handle all the award commands. I have to make badges all the way up to year 26!

@fraize, really appreciate all the hard work you are doing to get this set up. I know there are tons of little details and bits to connect. Thank you for making it happen and really doing it pretty quickly!

You need a big Gold Star badge! Let’s tell Tricia 😂

I'd like a way for international members to be able to become a Guardian by paying a fixed amount, either monthly or in a one sum amount maybe for a year at a time.

With a fluctuating dollar, the amount in Australian dollars was $4.68 the other day which I'm happy paying.
It's just not knowing how much I'd be paying each month is a barrier for me right now.

That would be a great idea. I can't put a month charge on a credit card but I would love to be a Guardian by paying a yearly sum if possible.

That is an excellent point.
