IN - 17 Month Old Scalded By Mom's Boyfriend

The article says most of the child's injuries are to her back. Doesn't that make you think he did not turn off the bath water and left it running on full hot and the baby backed up into it? I would think if it was the bath water, she would have more injuries to her legs and bottom....

from the above link. According to a police report, Strohmeyer told investigators that he had turned off the bath water, put the child into the tub and left her there unattended for 15 to 20 minutes.

"That's neglect. You can't … put a 17-month-old in a bathtub and just leave them unattended," said Indianapolis Metro police Lt. Jeff Duhamell. "Putting her in the bathtub is fine, but leaving was the problem."

Police said the child's skin came off in the water and that Strohmeyer should have known then to call 911 immediately.

Officials said most of the child's injuries are on her back, but there are also burns to the face.

Marion County - The mother of a baby badly burned earlier this year is behind bars. Police arrested her along with the man investigators say burned her baby.

This the second time Lynsey Vaughn's boyfriend was arrested bars since her baby got burned. This time, officers arrested the mother too, saying she put her children in danger.

A judge ordered Lynsey Vaughn's boyfriend Andrew Strohmeyer to stay away from her and her children, an action taken after Vaughn's one-year-old daughter ended up with second and third degree burns last May.

But officers investigated a December 8th disturbance at a northeast apartment. They encountered Strohmeyer and Lynsey Vaughn together along with her two children. That violated the judge's orders for Strohmeyer to stay away.

"The mother has been arrested and the children were taken into protective custody," said Lt. Duhamell.

It's about freaking time. I just hope the children have someplace that's safer to go, instead of getting lost in the system...

I was really hoping to find some additional information on this case, but found very little. I would like to know if she ever got the kids back and what her sentence was for the child neglect. I was not able to find any of that. I'm assuming the baby is okay, as it was clearly out of the hospital when the mother was taken into custody. So that is good news.
