According to local outlets FOX 59, WTHR and The Indianapolis Star, 4-year-old Alan Marcelo Salas-Garcia was riding in a trailer seat hooked up to the back of his dad's bicycle in Indianapolis on May 7 when a person driving a Dodge Charger sped through an intersection and hit them both.

The driver was travelling east bound on Raymond and abandoned the car after striking the family.

The fact that he apparently has not been identified via vehicle registration could suggest that the car had been stolen.

Travelling east bound on Raymond would seem to make running away to the south more likely. The area seems to be residential (and small, home based businesses) for blocks.

Furthermore, the street net work in not a grid pattern. Rather there are dead ends and streets that do not connect via a grid.

My guess is that a non local could get disoriented pretty fast and would be noticed retracing his steps, darting through yards etc. while trying to get away from the hit and run site.

In contrast, somebody from that area could probably "disappear" alot faster if his / her home was nearby. Likewise, they would know the street lay out as well and could get home efficiently.
