OK, the downloading and opening went well. The first document is that nice pic of RA and his dog.

Agree, they may have been able to narrow it down to a Sig, but not a specific model. I just have difficulty visualizing how they would be looking for a specific model of Sig, additionally if true that may have helped the investigation very early on.

Purely hypothetical on my end, but maybe they knew it was a Sig by the marking on the unspent round, and when they came across RA's name they could have checked ATF records and found he'd purchased one in 2001. Then they may have simply asked him if he still had it.

That makes sense. The markings on the unspent round would maybe narrow down to a Sig. I think the P226 and P229 have the same rifling twist in a .40. Perhaps they also found evidence of contact with certain other material on the unspent round? There are variations I believe with the barrel options of some models...such as chrome lined, phosphate coated, nitride finish, etc.

The Magic Bullet Theory

The bullet being found at the CS within feet of the victims' is uncanny and such very bad luck.

I don't understand how the bullet happened to be ejected without Rick's knowledge. Can someone explain it so it's easy on this brain? Was it the bullet he cocked back in his weapon when he ordered the girls Down the Hill? Abby quiered, "Is that a gun? or he's got a gun."

Why didn't he search for this ejected bullet until he found it? Or get rid of his gun and destroy his ammo right away?

There are always items in crime scene investigations that don't make sense. I don't understand how Rick Allen allowed himself to be caught, and likely convicted, by a single faulty bullet.

I think he had just enough liquid courage that day, before he went there. Maybe he had a flask or some of those miniature bottles he carried with him, or he hit the bottle in his car.

Anyway, I think this is what happened re: the bullet…

He maybe forgot he had a round chambered (or had to rack the slide once to make sure the girls complied), then he racked the slide again at the scene, before he did the awful deed he’s awaiting trial for, ultimately. Did his thing, and likely did look for the unspent round, but couldn’t spot it easily amongst the leaves and other things on the ground, and perhaps needed to hurry up and get out of there, likely thinking “Well, since I didn’t fire it. It’s not like they can make a ballistics match…” and there you have it.

Sexton v. State out of Texas, and Turner v. State out of Indiana. Sexton may have had a different outcome if they had the actual magazine.

It's not clear to me if "unspent" as used in the PCA excludes the possibility of a misfire. In otherwards...could there still be a firing pin mark on it...and it misfired either because of a pin or primer malfunction? A misfire is one possibility as to why the round was extracted from the gun without use.

Judge unseals more than 100 documents related to Delphi Murders Trial, including Richard Allen's 'admissions'

This morning, Special Judge Fran Gull, who is overseeing the Delphi Murders trial of Richard Allen, unsealed numerous documents relating to the case.

In that motion a further explanation into Allen's "admissions of guilt" is found.

The motion states:

"On April 3, 2023, Richard M Allen made a phone call to his wife Kathy Allen. In that phone call, Richard M Allen admits several times that he killed Abby and Libby. Investigators had the phone call transcribed and the transcription confirms that Richard M Allen admits that he committed the murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German. He admits several times within the phone call that he committed the offenses as charged. His wife, Kathy Allen, ends the phone call abruptly."

The document continues:

"Richard M Allen was wetting down and paperwork he had gotten from his attorneys and eating it, he was refusing to eat and refusing to sleep. He would go days of refusing to sleep. He further broke the tablet that he used for text messages and phone calls. He went from making up to two phone calls a day as of April 3, 2023 to not making any phone calls at all.”

I think I'm going to cry this out.

He was more worried about his wife leaving him (IMO) (hanging up on him) than any guilt or remorse or ownership or responsibility for the beautiful lives he butchered...

And he was keen to have a full-bore temper tantrum until they threatened a psych hold and then just like magic, he's all better, eating and sleeping like a baby.

I hope LE can unearth just exactly how and when he connected with those precious girls but I fear there are two missing phones... stalking, catfishing, tracking...

I'm just so sorry they crossed his wicked path.

They had a right to grow up and live their best lives.

I hurt for that.
