Totally agree.
Because it gives them a basis to appeal a guilty verdict later on. They're just documenting what they've observed, and how it could negative affect RA's right to a fair trial (eg: lack of timely access to his counsel, inability to review video / documents given the type of holding he was in, possible intimidation by staff etc). They may not seem relevant to the matter right now, but they're laying the groundwork for a future appeal should he be found guilty.

The motion says that the new prison has no room setup for meetings with lawyers, so they had to meet him in what appeared to be a prep-kitchen with a cell built-in for feeding prisoners. They could only communicate with him through the small slot in the cell door that was meant for passing food into the cell. They weren't allowed to come within 6 feet of the door and thus couldn't show him any documents and had to yell so that they could be heard.
Which, is absurd! Why insist that counsel sit 6 feet away? Is there some as yet unpublicized indication that RA is a danger to himself or to his counsel??
Its a gamble and no judge wants the liability for his death in the event that another facility cannot manage to keep him safe be it from himself or other prisoners. In considering the motion, if I were the judge, I'd do some research and find out where he could be housed safely and whether any staff he might be in contact with / or who may be visible to him are sporting Odin patches or tattoos etc. Then, if he could be kept safe, and no such issue was found amongst the staff, then I'd go ahead and move him there. That way, it shuts up the counsel from screaming about Odins etc.

I share your annoyance with this egregious error in spelling of Hannibal!! I also did wonder if it was wise to compare RA's confinement to that of this particular character who was known as a cannibal! It did make me wonder if we're just not yet aware of some concerns around self harm or a risk of harm to his counsel or others? 1. I'm going to have to be annoyed with Scremin for the Hannibal misspelling - but only for 24 hours or so.
