Investigators have repeated over and over they have reason to believe YGB has some type of personal tie to Delphi.

Not only was YBG able to abduct Abby and Libby through difficult terrain ‘in a privately owned close knit rural community’ but he went virtually unchallenged. In addition most homeowners have dogs trained to dispatch trespassers. Yet YBG was able to commit a heartbreaking abduction and murders without once being challenged throughout the execution of his crime and escape.

The only scenario I can come up with is ‘he was on friendly terms with residents schedules, animals and habits’. I cannot buy that he garnered all of the above due to sheer good luck.

MOO

Indeed. So, why doesn't anyone apparently recognise him in the pic or in the sketch? Or why aren't they turning him in if they do recognise him, more to the point really?

This is important especially if witnesses only saw BG before 2.30 p.m. IMO. LE will know when witnesses saw him. If no one saw him leave, why not?
I don't know how things work at these Parks. Are people employed to look after the Trails I'm thinking of people like Maintenance Men to keep the tracks in good order, cut back dead branches, give people directions, lift litter etc. If so would there be staff facilities for changing? I know it might seem risky to go back to somewhere that would be in view of the general public, but if you were expected to be there then it is, to coin a phrase used often in this case,"hiding in plain sight" My other thought regards the vehicle that LE wanted details of. Could it be one of a fleet of vehicles used by a company that has a contract to keep parks and recreation areas in good condition and would have had a legitimate reason for being in the area.

If they are truly religious, how do they deal with the concept of the final judgment for their kid, and for themselves, too? I am not strong in religious concepts, but if there is one grave sin, this is it... MOO x 3

The murder of two innocent teens is pretty bad. BG is a coward. This wasn't self-defense. How could BG's parents or families know he wouldn't strike again or attack them next?!

A- He's still there...until more and more people start arriving to search before the police are called.

There's a reason why LE had an end time for sighting the car at right around the time early searchers would have been voicing more urgent concerns and saying let's call the police. They must think killer was still there.

Edit by me: The police must think it's a real possibility that the killer had still been there*

Either the killer was waiting to get to their car unnoticed and was still there lurking in the woods, trying to avoid being seen by a rapidly growing amount of people arriving on the trails or maybe killer was there in plain sight involved in the initial searching but making sure to slip away to their car (now surrounded by many others) and leave before police arrived. AJMO

or had a quick change of clothes threw it in a knack sack, backpack and acted as a concerned citizen and spoke to the cops. The easiest way out is to blend in.

that's where the delusion of grandeur comes in...

I would agree that BG drove a truck, but not for work.

It depends on where he was parked. Since I think the killer is a truck driver, I have a hard time imagining where that parking place is located.

I 100% agree with this possibility. He may have looked like Sketch #1 when spotted by some of the witnesses, and then someone 'who saw something they felt needed to be reported' saw him as his real self and described the man in Sketch #2.

LE said that early on that thought he may have changed his look. I have posted about this before, but will add the link for reference. Third paragraph.

All-out manhunt underway for main suspect in murders of two Delphi teens

"Police believe the man may have changed his look to try and hide his identity. They are asking every Hoosier to keep their eyes and ears open."

I personally believe that when they find him, he will look very, very much like sketch #2.

JMO

ETA I know that LE has said that they are not the same person....but LE has also held alot of info close to the vest and originally they said, the first sketch is 'secondary'. An odd way of wording it IMO.

A simple hoodie over a hat and a scarf can conceal ID pretty easily. and toss out the blue jacket, and hat, remove hat viola different ID. Might have had on black running sweatpants or longjohns and a tight black shirt underneath. Presto chango goes from frumpy beer belly old guy to young, slim runner concerned citizen within minutes.
Either had a fanny pack, backpack, duffel bag or hide all of it or in his trunk of his car.

did you mean not guilty by reason of insanity? mentally ill by reason of insanity actually makes some sense, too ;)

Indiana state law does not recognize "mentally ill by reason of insanity" types of pleas/ defenses. They have " guilty but mentally ill" instead. There is a huge difference between the two types. In "Guilty but mentally ill," the person is found guilty and sent to a mental hospital for treatment. When and if doctors have determined the person is " cured", they are then transferred to a regular prison to serve their sentence.. Indiana's laws on this have been upheld by the Supreme Court. Also, juries almost never buy a " mentally ill" defense. These laws prevent a "get out of jail free" card for defendants.

Do you think the vehicle parked at the abandon building was a truck? Or why do you think he drives a truck?

Sorry, just wanted to say this made me giggle. Thanks for that.

I'm still lurking and following along with you all. I really have nothing to add to all of your well thought out theories. Thanks to all who posted maps, I am finally getting a sense of direction of the area. I always thought I was a good map reader but apparently I was sadly mistaken. ;)

Surprised a bit that there hasn’t been more TALK in town since the presser

How would we know? Are you local? If so you may be able to post as a verified insider.

I guess that would be DNR who would be in charge of Parks and they have fleets of vehicles so that is a good thought. However, the bridge is not owned by the State, it is privately owned by CSX, I believe and is being (or has been recently) transfered to the Indiana trail system. Not sure who owns/runs them TBH. There are many groups interested in old rail systems and surroundings who could be involved in that way IMO.

This was my original speculation. However, I am following LE instructions, and only looking at sketch#2; one Perp. It’s been a confusing case, for sure. That said, I’m not adding any narrative beyond LE. Focus.

He possibly changed his shoes?

My stupidity...how is one tip going to solve this crime?

This is feeling like the movie, "Groundhog Day". Every day I check in here and every day there is no arrest.

That is possible, although they should easily be able determine if it were the same person. I learned from one of our Trackers here on WS just how much you can determine from footprints. Almost as good as a fingerprint!

The only way two or more people could hold a secret is for one to die. Hard for one person to hold a secret too.
No way could a group keep a secret.

Maybe I’m wrong.

Just my opinion and I’ve been wrong so many times.
Well... that is what I have always thought also...until I was told that if a "group" doing unlawful things saw something, they would NOT want to admit to LE why they were there, what they were doing, etc. so to protect each other, they would not say a word.. hard for me to believe as I agree with your thinking, but after what happened to NB for example, they would fear for their lives.
