That article was a year ago and something changed recently - they uncovered something between the 2 year PC and the April PC IMO. I really don’t think LE switched up the sketch, suspect age range, and stated BG has local ties because they ran down all 42K tips and they are just trying something new - no one knew who OGB is so let’s go with NBG.

Carter asked for patience since they are just beginning. I think they are just beginning to build their case against someone specific. I don’t have access to their case files so I have no clue who that might be and hesitate to guess. It’s just vibes.

I've thought the exact same thing. And I just continue to pray that they've received the proper tip and we'll see an arrest any day now!

Interesting, the older sketch was already sidelined during the second anniversary press conference. Many commented here at that time, noting how it was noticeably de-emphasized.

So I think the investigation had already taken on a “new direction” prior to Feb/19 and asking the public for that “one tip” once again was out of necessity to hopefully aid in identification, this time of a younger suspect.

I haven't posted on the thread in awhile or kept up with reading, but I do think about this case - it's one that stays with me.

I've been thinking what this case would look like if we didn't have Libby's photos/video/audio? There is no way BG expected her to record him, but I do think he deliberately killed them (this is no accident).

So....without the recordings, the case would be the mysterious disappearance of two teenage girls who were then found dead in a wooded area. It's reasonable to assume they were displayed in some way, not left "as is." The chief said at the April presser to the killer that the girls are not spending eternity in the way you left them (paraphrase), so it seems like the girls were arranged in a certain way that was demeaning.

That seems like a perp who gets off on sullying the girls, sullying the park that people enjoy, and shocking people.

That doesn't sound like a personal revenge crime or a drug killing - sounds like a pervert with sick fantasies.

just a sick jerk, a creep. I'm sure he's been called it in person - for all of his sad life. he thinks he's smart, and he may have a decent IQ, but his twistedness, his lack of love is what will ultimately catch him. I can hardly wait to congratulate LE. They will not stop.

I think he selected the "down the hill" location in advance - scoped out the place. My hunch is that he lured one/both girls there for the purpose of murder and display, but it could be he roams around waiting for the right victim to come along at the right time.

I totally think BF knows the area, but not someone who lives in Delphi itself. I think it's someone who looks local enough - who wouldn't stand out as an outsider on the trail - but who isn't so local that people recognize him. For people where he lives, they wouldn't suspect him so the don't "see" him in the photo.

I think with the planning and likely thrill of watching the reaction, this is not a drug user. His thoughts are dirty but his mind is clear, ykwim?

Quoted BBM
Nailed it!

I'm thinking that one of the mistakes that the killer made wasn't necessarily at the crime scene, but perhaps well after the crime had taken place, like as recently as within 6 months of the April presser.

I believe that he did something to 'taunt' LE and that's how they caught onto him, and then promptly switched gears to his direction.

I've mentioned this before...but there was no sketch at the February press conference which leads me to believe that they were onto this guy even before February of this year.

I have the utmost confidence that LE is charging full force ahead in the right direction now.

JMO

Your post popped up after I posted mine. Yes, I strongly believe something was already going on earlier this year.

If LE had been able to proceed with an arrest of a suspect they’d have done so without a PC, regardless if the suspect looked like a sketch. PCs and media tours are for one reason only, to engage the public in seeking helpful information. Hopefully this recent blitz has achieved a desirable outcome!

VERY, VERY great article on what GEDMATCH has accomplished in 2019 & a fantastic crime solving tool!!!
"Moore said the company is now fielding calls for help in decades-old cases as interest grows in this technique. Since May, the company has helped provide law enforcement with identifications in 43 cases, she said."
It took over 20 years to find this man, who killed 2 beautiful 17 year old girls. (Warning: Heartbreaking.) He was a truck driver/minister. (You can not out-pray murder!)
High profile arrest led Alabama police to genealogy testing

I've been following since the very beginning and to say I am disappointed that an arrest hasn't been made at this point would be an understatement.

I truly believe that LE is overwhelmed by the number of tips and their ability to go through them all.

I've seen several high profile cases where the information was in LE hands and it took years to finally find that one piece of info that put it all together.

Ted Bundy was outed early as a potential suspect but it took more murders and others to come forward before he was caught. Paul Bernardo was called in as a suspect and LE had a DNA sample that was not processed. It took several years and finally they got a match. Boom Gotcha!

I think something similar may be at play here.

I'm surprised he hasn't killed again. I don't see this as one off. I also don't see this guy as exclusively killing in two's. I think he saw an opportunity with 2 young girls and took it. It's been eerily quiet really. Has he left the area? Is he still around? Could he be in prison? Where is this guy? Somebody knows him. Why aren't they coming forward or have they? With video and a voice we still don't have this guy. Incredible. It must be so frustrating for LE.

The change in direction was huge. The change in the picture of the POI was huge. I had the original picture ingrained in my memory. The new one, I have to keep going back and refreshing. I can't put that picture with the video and the voice after all this time. My brain won't let me do it.

They will catch him eventually. I will be very interested to hear what happened with those two pictures and why such a significant difference.

Respectfully snipped for focus.
A very important point you made here.
This Perp was seemingly (speculation), loaded up with murderous tools and scaling this scary and dangerous bridge adeptly, with apparent speed to catch the girls. This leads me to speculate whether he was very accustomed to running across the bridge on a dare, or works in an occupation where he is accustomed to maneuvering at heights:
Construction, tree-trimer, forestry, window washer, firefighter, roofer....

This is someone who used to play and race across the bridge on dares. This is someone who is comfortable working at heights, and probably gets a thrill from it. Otherwise, he would have lay in wait on the ground for the girls. The height was part of the thrill.

Amateur opinion and speculation
Or works/worked in a field where dexterity with the feet and legs was important...regardless of the height.

Agree. And don’t forget the reward offered of $225,000. The person who knows who this is isn’t motivated by almost a quarter of a million dollars. To me, they’re either protecting a loved one or they themselves are part of the criminal world and live on the margins, like the killer.
That's right. Never forget the reward offer. JMO, but I think it is the elephant in the room.

BG in the new video is noticeably lifting and planting his feet. He just knows how to keep balance on uneven terrain.
Julie Melvin - check out link above of video 5- is just a gal, taking video and she strolled across the thing like it was a sidewalk.
At one point she walks out on one of the platforms and her husband is terrified some of the wood will break under her, but she just doesn't feel fear.
So even though the bridge is challenging,
MOO I would say basically safe, if you are coordinated.

Today is Friday. According to articles I have read... Friday arrest work to the benefit of LE, giving extra days for finishing paperwork, prosecutors being able to look over case, work on loose ends, etc. However, if a suspect voluntarily turns themselves in on Friday (big mistake?)
"At Ruane Attorneys, we advise our clients to never turn themselves in on a Friday because of the possibility of being stuck in jail over the weekend."
GO FIGURE!! This crime has me reading about subjects I (we?) never would have considered.

Well, we don't really know whether he's killed again right? He may have.

He might still be around. He may have left the area. He might be in prison.

And he might be dead.

Misty, here is the situation, if the LE knows but can’t prove, then other people could at least make the same conclusions.

If the LE has no clue, then of course, it won’t.

I assume the former is true.
IMO: LE/FBI knows, but can't prove the last detail ----> no Main Stream Media ----> no "officially" conclusions by someone in town/state or on WS ----> only the big white elephant in the room ----> now someone do offer the last puzzle piece finally, pleeeeeeaaaaase! It is about time!

Under no circumstance he is dead, I believe. (My POI from 2017 is.)

Friday or not: if he will stay in prison for his life, it doesn't matter. And he will know: he has to stay forever.

FromGermany, :) Not to put you on the spot...but could you share the initials of "your POI from 2017?" Of course I'll want to ask, "Why that person has been on your radar?"...but if you provide initials, I think the "why" will be obvious. Thank you, IQ, FromCalifornia!
