BG was comfortable walking on that bridge with his hands in his pockets. Most of us need our arms to keep our balance while walking.

I thought I remembered that the reason the girls were filing was to make money to go to the mall that day, is that true. if so, why change of plans to go to bridge.

Girls were up super late, 2-3 am making musically videos online. Surely this was a great opportunity for BG to discuss meeting the following day. Perhaps he said first, 'let's meet at the mall' to make it sound safe and then changed plans to meet at bridge.
Although Abby had her hands in her jacket’s pockets and she reportedly had never crossed the bridge before.

I also noted the seemingly sudden change of plans from shopping to the bridge. I’m wondering if unbeknownst to BP, Libby had been communicating with someone on her phone while they were filing. Maybe at that point, the person suggested meeting at the bridge since it was such a nice day. In an interview, BP said that when Kelsi arrived at the house, L popped up and asked if K would drive them to the bridge. BP didn’t say much more (that I have heard, at least) about the exchange, other than K agreed to take them.
I am curious about a few things. Was L on her phone, potentially chatting with someone and arranging plans while the girls were doing work for BP? Did A and L talk about going to the bridge prior or did it seem like a spur of the moment decision to go?

No one really knows what the suspect in this case did after he saw his picture from Liberty German's phone. That could be why it has been so hard to identify him.

There is still some hope even after all this time. The suspect cannot escape his past. Whether it is old employment records, old pictures, or old trips, I think there is some clue in the suspect's past that will help identify him.

Your detailing my theory nicely. This was someone who arranged to meet them. Catfished.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Do you know where I can find the link to that-

Also, didn't they want to go shopping that same day and then changed their minds and went to the bridge

BP stated it in an interview. I believe it was with GH. She also stated that LG had a sudden interest in clothes shopping.

Gray Hughes interview with Becky Patty:

Sunday night

Well, Abby spent the night with Libby on Sunday night and they had stayed up late through the night painting their chocolate painting and messing around. We actually have a couple of videos that they had taken of each other that night, kind of goofing around.

Monday morning
They slept in ‘cause they were up late. When they got up it was, I don’t know, probably 10:00 or so and Derrick made them pancakes. They had pancakes, and of course Libby always wants to be on the go and she was wanting to do something but Kelsi had to work that day. I was working and Derrick took off to go take some pictures for me, and so I told Libby – she’d kind of gotten into shopping recently. She enjoyed shopping which was new for her because I used to have to drag her with me to buy her school clothes. Because Libby has started enjoying shopping, I told her that “I have some filing to do and if you girls want to do some filing for me, I’ll pay you and maybe later on today or tonight when I’m done, we could go”.

So they came out and were doing some filing – they were out with the file cabinets, filing and stuff – and Kelsi came out – see, I don’t know the exact time of that, you know, why would we have paid attention to that – but she came out – it was probably close to 1:00 and said, “Hey, I work at 4:00. I’m going to go to a friend’s house for a little bit and then, then I’m going on to work. Well, as soon as Libby heard that, Libby jumped up and said, “Hey, will you take us to the bridge?” and Kelsi said, “I don’t care”.

We're not aware from any source that the girls had planned to go to the bridge before Monday.

It would end the debate about BG Hair or Hat.

Etter seemingly has less Hair than Sheryl Powell.

Unless both carried a Merkin.

( Another Word of the Day contender. )
Okay, I'll take the bait :) What is a MERKIN?? And NO laughing at me, eh??

I keep thinking about the idea of nobody hearing the girls scream. I've been working under the assumption that they didn't-that they were too panicked or scared. I didn't scream when I was held up at gun point. But the more I think about it, the more I'm wondering if maybe they DID scream and LE just hasn't released it. On the other hand, it's possible the noise just wasn't registered by anyone. Screaming, laughing, hollering at each other, etc are all noises that kind of blend together for me and when I'm out in a public place, especially in a park, I tend not to register them unless they're right on top of me. It's the same with gun shots. Here in the country we hear them almost every day and I stopped paying attention to them years ago. Our neighbor shot a coyote 20 feet from our house last week and I didn't know it until he told us the next day.

A merkin is a pubic wig. Merkins were originally worn by prostitutes after shaving their mons pubis, and are now used as decorative items, erotic devices, or in films, by both men and women. Wikipedia

Who knew?

ETA: From the Urban Dictionary:
Merkin
A pubic hair piece. A toupee for the pubic area/genitals. In the 1700’s when mercury was used to treat sexually transmitted diseases (Gonorrhea or Syphilis) one of the side effects was the loss of pubic hair. To disguise this condition, that was not cured by mercury, a Merkin was employed.

This makes more sense. I guess.

What kind of filing was this? What needed to be filed?

I'll agree with those thoughts. Others have pointed out that the winds were from the west and possibly helped carry sounds away from the trail?

Trust me, I'll never forget that definition!! Thanks for taking the time to educate this naive WS member :)

Becky ran an appraisal business from her home.

Yeah, and even with the leaves off the trees, the park is pretty hilly and sound doesn't carry well. It can get swallowed up.

MOO entering high school in fall, every kid suddenly realizes they want an upgrade.

The Delphi junior high and high school share a campus.
One school on each end of a large campus, with playing fields etc in the middle to separate them. I bet Kelsi had beem giving at least LG a ride to school as soon as she got her license.
LG would know what she should be wearing when she started HS.

Mine started getting particular about clothes/concerned about appearance and wanting to shop when puberty kicked into high gear and they started realizing boys are cute - so around 7th grade (a couple of months ago actually). That’s about the same time I started caring about that kind of stuff too. It’s kind of sad actually because people should like you as you are.
